MSI: *Offical* N460GTX Hawk 1GB OC Edition thread

I want to buy another one to run SLI but was wondering if my PSU can handle it?

Seasonic 600W (48A 12v Rail)
Q6600 @ 3.6
Asus P5K-E
4GB Kingston 8500
3 Hard Drives

Thanks.

That pushing it in my opinon, it needs to be 750W to be secure. You could get away with it but it's tight.

Agreed. That's one of the reasons I've just bought myself a Corsair 750w modular. That and the fact that my Tagan (from the noises it's making under load!) is on the way out. Just need the money my for an SLI re-build now. Sweet Jesu. this is an expensive hobby! Maybe take up crack cocain, it's probably cheaper ;)

My 625w Sapphire Psu quite happily runs 2 x 460gtx,s as well as 3 hdd,s and a 955BE @ 4ghz... Total load according to my power meter whilst gaming is around 420W.....

Your seasonic with 48A on the 12v should easily power 2 of these...

Interesting to hear. I've always sort of wondered if a lot of folks end up with PSU's a lot more powerful than they actually need (like me). Though if buying a new one (like I've got to) you might as well go for a bit of overkill, as the price difference isn't that great between power ratings. Though I suppose it depends if you are on a tight budget.

thanks for the replies. I guess there's no harm in trying installing another card, I mean the worst that can happen is random crashes? atm I gaming at 1920x1200 (currently playing Arma 2 Multiplayer) so the extra card would be useful and if I need to get a new PSU the the XFX PSUs will be my choice.

Having a devil of a time getting Afterburner to work correctly. Running Kombustor the clocks drop everytime I open Afterburner whether it be at default or overclocked. I am using Nvidia Inspector to clock with in the meantime. This run with the gpu cooled by a Boreas TEC...
