** MSI RX 480 GAMING X 8GB ONLY £212 (AFTER CASHBACK) !! **

Actually, if that's the sticker then it's not so much of a problem. I thought since everyone was saying they'd need to butcher the box that it wasn't that sticker!

God, this is insult to injury.

Gibbo man I have two of these cards and they have been a ******* to run at their thermal specifications, after changing the PSU out today I noticed that the heatsinks are actually loose and can't be tightened all the way, I had major thermal issues with one which happened to be the very loosest with more than twice the play as the other one, full stop the heatsinks on these cards cannot be tightened to a secure fit without any play, consequently it seems they have to spin their fans in 2D 50% of the time.

It's like they used the wrong screws or forgot to add washers under the screws or something, are they still like this? What's going on with them?

Was gonna make my own post but saw this right at the top :D

yes totally no problem, so I've just affixed it to the document, was getting paranoid incase there was a number printed directly on the box.

Are you going to be scanning this before sending so you have a record? Also, are we supposed to email a scan of that or is it just the scanned form?

I think i may send mine by recorded delivery because at least then there's a paper trail if things do go awry.

I've took a pic AND sent it recorded delivery, I`m always sceptical about these cashback schemes inasmuch I`m cynical about the vendors using any excuse to make you jump through hoops and lose interest. I emailed the form and the invoice but not a pic of the sticker.

12 weeks is a bit long to wait as well

RMA it

I did ask a bit further up whether there was an MSI rep on here in much the same guise as the guy from EVGA who frequents here and chimes in on threads requiring his input but i received no response.

I suppose we could try ask an MSI rep for some final clarification, as most of us are all clearly against cutting up our boxes. Tom Rawes is the UK MSI marketing manager, would imagine he's a good person to ask.

I also found a thread on another forum which could be useful

https://forum.overclock3d.net/forumdisplay.php?f=131
The last time he was online on there was Friday.

Ah damn, do you go to those forums often, is he not very active?
Not really, I go on there maybe once a week. The MSI Rep checks the OC3D forum every few days I guess, he posts marketing new and up coming products mainly, he's quite helpful when anyone posts any queries though.

I've found the MSI UK service desk and the MSI Rep e-mail address, I'll put them in spoiler tags.

I`m a bit concerned about their capability to successfully manage this offer properly.

  1. Wording on offer form is not coherent or accurate.
  2. Offer duration was confused ("HQ" posting seemingly wrong dates)
  3. Allow TWELVE weeks before you suspect they have forgot.

I'd rather hear how these cards are setup from other users first. Never have I heard of this kind of play on a graphics card heatsink and I have two of them, if the replacements are just going to be the same, what's the point? I'd rather they sent me a fix if it is an issue with confirmation that I can break warranty seals, even though I believe such seals are not valid in the UK.

I could just post on the MSI forums but they weren't exactly that helpful when I posted about the massive system instability the lighting effects on my z170 gaming M7 encounters when the LEDs are set to any kind of lighting effects other than off and on. I'd talk to a knowledgeable end user over a rep any day, also.

I'm sure there would be some legal ramifications if they didn't award the rebate.

Not that i have noticed no, but then i haven't done an awful lot of gaming since i got the card. Though if what i've read is to be believed it's as much to do with your PSU than it is to the GPU!

I only really noticed it when i was programming with OpenGL on my previous 7950 though, never really in game.
