MSI Wind

Quick heads up folks, I was doing a bit of research into these today and I have found a few alternative sites where you can pre-order. Most sites are expecting stock at the end of June/beginning of July.

Due to supply issues it looks increasingly unlikely that the initial stocks will ship with the 6 cell battery.

I have seen the Wind on one site for £279.99 for Linux/1Gb while the XP/1Gb version is £304.99. This is a pretty good price IMO (perhaps due to the battery issue). I am unsure whether the 1Gb Linux version has bluetooth as I have read conflicting opinions on this.

I'm so tempted to pre-order. The wind looks to me to be the best netbook (for my needs at least) and I can't be waiting around for Dell's effort which isn't going to be out until August or later!

EDIT: EEE PC 901 just been confirmed for release on 1st July priced at £319. Just to make the choice that little bit more tricky!...

There's now a cracking review of the Asus Eee 901 if anyone is interested. I can't post the link but it's not too hard to find. I just pre-ordered the Wind too :(

Anyone else here buying either of these netbooks?

Yes please for the review. Email in trust

That is a great review and Spot on regarding "the original ultra portable with SSD HD" Sure typing and some other things may be better with the other offerings but Most of us will have proper PC's and Laptop's for the boreing stuff ;)

Just had a look at this, looks very nice for a soon to be uni student, as its got a bigger keyboard than the eee, bigger harddrive, slightly faster, am def interested in the 6 cell version. Any idea what integrated graphics chipset its using though??

I think all the atom's use the 945G chipsets

I'm going to wait until other companies bring out their offerings as I want to upgrade from my 701 eee its great but I'm a sucka for new stuff, plus the battery life on my current eee is a bit rubbish

It was like this when the eee got released they got delayed for ages and stock of them was so hard to come by.

Will be available to order tomorrow.
Awesome. :)

Info on price, specs etc. please. I had to cancel my pre-order from another site since they're going to be stocking the Wind in mid July and I'm going to be leaving the country earler than that.

Indeed - If the price is right I will cancel my pre-order also. Unfortunately, I doubt the OCUk ones will be 6 cell battery version but I live in hope... ;)
