MSI's X570 Tomahawk May Become Go-To OC Board??

This mate

He already did it, I am afraid. Except if I cannot read:
Reflashed with the latest stable BIOS?

This board is driving me nuts. Saw a new bios for improved ryzen performance so who wouldn't want that right?
Wrong followed the M flash to the letter, went into bios, got the usb stick, loaded the bios and hit mflash. Just went to black screen and now cant get it to post.
Took out battery, cleared cmos, nothing, reflashed with the latest stable bios, which was the one I was already running and still nothing. Tried 1 stick of ram in all the slots, took out all other drives but still just
Black screen with the no bootable drive found light on.

Any one any ideas? Just cant get it to post a bios screen.

Yeh looks like it maybe he did something wrong when trying to refresh is it the msi or gigabyte boards that dont like the new usb drives I'm not sure but I'd be tempted to re download the most stable bios again if I was the op nothing to lose really

Thanks guys, stripped it all down and put it back together again with no luck but in the end it turned out to be the graphics card.

My RX580 wasn't working as the bios reset to UEFI and for some reason the card needed CSM. I tried the card in another pc earlier and it worked fine so ruled it out as the problem initially.

Just by chance I decided to try an old card I had from 10 years ago and it actually gave me an option on screen from the bios to get into the bios so fixed it from there.

The message said I needed to change to CSM for the card to work so still wondering why it never gave me the message with the 580.

Might be useful info for someone, so thanks for sharing.

Have you selected the correct option for PWM/DC?

I had similar with my AIO pump and couldn't work out why my curve wouldn't work for it, until I realised it was DC and not PWM.

yup i did, it seems to have sorted it self now, we had a brief power outtage in my area when i just rebooted its as it should be for now, just hope it doesn't happen again

Purchased this board in November with it subsequentally dying on me this week. Whilst I appreciate the differences between the B550 and X570, I have to say i am glad I replaced it yesterday with the B550 Unify.

Why are you glad?

Personal reasons really.

I upgraded to the Tomahawk from an Asus CH6 for no other reason than the new chipsets were superior to the X370 I had. Honestly if the CH6 had 2 NVME slots I'd just kept using that. I did toy with the idea of getting the CH7 from the B-grade section here for £200 as the CH6 has been the best board Ive owned in 20 years.

Anyway before I purchased the Tomahawk I couldnt find a motherboard (X570) that gave me the same amount of USB ports, a clear CMOS button and a post bug id display that I had became accustomed to within a sensible budget. The Tomahawk according to reviews and opinions here/elsewhere presented this as the best bang for buck board on the market and like others, I too chose this board. I appreciated the extra NVME slot on the Tomahawk over my CH6 but the above missing features did slightly grate on me.

So my circumstance saw the board black screen and reboot randomly with Event 41 Kernal error and nothing much else. So having tested the ram, changed the PSU, reinstalled windows onto a new NVME, re-seat and re-paste the CPU I was at a loss as to what was causing it until it eventually died.

Now this can of course happen to any board but it allowed me to look at what else was on the market. The B550 Unify ticked all the boxes for me and I probably would have picked this board had this been out at the same time as the Tomahawk as I feel it offers a better deal for the consumer who does not need 3 x 4.0 slots.

@chris74 Hijack time but does your B550 Unify also have the clear cmos button on the back in red when the pc is on? Also a question for you and possibly Tomahawk owners.

Does anyone else have super weird voltage reporting from Ryzen Master and ZenTimings (both latest builds)?

This is vsoc from the hwinfo64 sensor and what it states in ZenTimings:

gDxHV1k.png

1.0375 vs 1.038, we can give that a pass due to droop or whatever. What is stranger is that the vddg voltages state 1.0500. These apparently cannot be higher than soc under any circumstances. The thing is, vdimm is also incorrectly reported at 1.36v when I know it's 1.352 via hwinfo and bios.

Now if we open up Ryzen Master it gets even stranger: https://i.imgur.com/dBwlh91.png

The soc and vddg voltages are again different and reading all the same value.

I got this board and noticed that my 980 Pro is running in PCIe 3, it's in the top slot and I'm running firmware E7C84AMS.150, do I need to update the firmware to unlock PCIe 4 for the SSD or something along those lines? I've installed the chipset drivers but that hasn't worked. Samsung magician is reporting the interface as PCIe Gen. 3 x 4 and the drive speeds are constantly around 3400 read 2682 writes which seems pretty low! :o

I built a system with this board yesterday using the same drive.

Where do you see it’s pci speed please? I’ll check mine.
