Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

Just submitted our Operations Manual to EuroUSC. Ack, fingers crossed!

Editing time is 1354 minutes (or 22.5 hours) according to Word but I'm not sure if that includes 'idle time' or not. Either way it's 5,400 words excluding all the checklists/logs etc and took a little while!

For new starters to the hobby this is a great video (as all the Flite Test ones are)

The fact they stress learning to fly in full manual is good.

To tie in with their first tip of learning to hover, it's worth learning to "hop". Take the craft if the ground and pick a spot to land near by. Rinse/repeat. This way you learn to coordinate throttle, roll and pitch, not to mention getting used to the foibles your craft may have at an altitude of a couple of inches

That does indeed look very cool, nice use of existing technologies in a new way, assuming it works reliably :p I wouldn't like to have £500+ in the air with no direct control of it myself, plus the potential for ass-hattery is immense. More "drone" headlines inbound

Autonomous in that sense is crazily dangerous. At least with waypoints it's a preset route and can be manually overrided should the need be. Also if it's following behind you you can't even see what it's doing.

It'll never fly (no pun intended :p).

Im TOTALLY STUCK! HELP!!

I am trying to get my turnigy 9x to link up with my DJI Phantom 1's NAZA.........iv synced the remote to the receiver, followed a million guides on ebay.........but my throttle is appearing as the 'u control mode switch' in naza assistant.......YES channel 3 is going to the T port ...........no idea what im doing wrong, please help :(

GUYS, im really really struggling, iv spent 2 days trying to find a video guide on how to from the very start simply setup a TURNIGY 9x with a DJI Naza v1 in my Phantom 1 :mad:

NOTHINGS WORKING, the wiring is CORRECT,

1 -> A
2 -> E
3 -> T
4 -> R

All i can find is guides on how to make it work with the gps fail safe etc switch, i cannot make it work, it all goes wrong, i am following guides i can find, i feel totally useless, is something wrong with it ?!?!

Can someone post me a STEP BY STEP guide on how to sodding sort this out,lol

So confused, im not normally this stupid :eek: :(

So I found this simple guide eventually and its 'sort of' worked, I can now control A, T, R U, X1, X2..........but now all of a sudden 'E' isn't responding............What in this guide did I miss (or is missing) to make E work

I turned to google translate do not know English.

9CH Turnigy 9x 3-position control switch setting, and the Naza + GPS

The first time I changed the pot, three-position switch. but over time researching investigating the Controller Firmware update, Pot - switch replacement, three-position switch on the remote control Channel Mixing without GPS, Atti, manual modes, I found the assignment and share.

Naza + GPS Control modes (Manual Mode, Mode and GPS Atti Mode.) Kumandamızın use 3-position switch.

Turnigy 9x 3-position switch that controls directly or assigned to a channel.

The physical cable connections:

RX Naza
CH1 -> A
CH2 -> E
CH3 -> T
CH4 -> R
CH5 idle
CH6 -> U
CH7 -> X1
CH8 -> X2

After making the cable connections going to the system settings kumandamızın

SEAT MODE: up to you
MOD NAME: up to you
SEAT TYPE: Heli - HELİ1
MODEUAT: PPM
STICK SET: MODE 2

After setting the FUNC SETTING dokunmuyoruz others write only to set them up.
REVERSE: THR and PIT REV, Others NOR

The most important point
PIT / CV, three-position switch settings, ie, GPS, A, M settings are doing here.

PIT / CV: Three key N in the normal position when the GPS
L 005.5%
1 005.5%
2 005.5%
3 005.5%
H 005.5%

We took a triple in normal position switch 1
L 045.5%
1 045.5%
2 045.5%
3 045.5%
H 045.5%

Triple switch 2 in position MANUAL normal
L 085.5%
1 085.5%
2 085.5%
3 085.5%
H 085.5%

As upfront (by the Naza suspends assistant, you will fine-tune their own.)

AUX-CH Setting:
CH5 HOV PIT
CH6 NULL
CH7 PIT TRIM
CH8 HOV THRO
CH9 NULL

That's it.

EDIT: FINALLY, fixed it all, working now, AT LAST

Does anyone know if there is a multi charger for the Hubsan X4 batteries available? Or if not, where I could buy a few more of the USB chargers?

I'm trying to learn and have 6 batteries in total which is great, but its then a mission to charge them all up again one at a time.

Edit: Found one! 5 way charger on Banggood.com for £1.69 :)

I have the normal Devo10 and for the money it's great. Best bit is you can run Deviationtx open source firmware, I suspect this can also. My older Devo10 seems to max out at around 1.3KM

You can also power them direct from a lipo

Almost 2 weeks before it showed posted over the counter but:

18-Jun-2014 1607 Item arrived UNITED KINGDOM UNITED KINGDOM
12-Jun-2014 1142 Item sent to LONDON MPC PMIH (KLIA)
10-Jun-2014 1234 Item posted over the counter MPC PMIH (KLIA)
30-May-2014 1110 Dispatch Pre-Alert 29/05/2014 In Transit

It turned up today! Oddly they declared the value to be $170.02 and marked as gift and toy parts. No customs or charges it just arrived at the door!

Just waiting on motors and props and a few little cables etc and then i'll be able to fly my first proper quad!

It's so random, but you'll probably be safe if RM have handed it over. I've had a $200 order declared properly and paid nothing, and been stung on a $50 order declared at $18 or something and probably more in between

I've heard of this with couriers but the item was delivered by the usual royal mail postman. It wasn't even a parcelforce guy. I thought royal mail/parcelforce keep the item until you pay?

Parcel Force will, Royal Mail wont. In my experience.. no matter the value of the item PF are sods and will charge you x amount plus a stupidly extortionate "handling fee"
