Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

Yes they do it's just always on backorder!

Do you have a link to it? I've seen they did a video with their 'spec racing' setup, but can't find that setup for sale any more?

But given that most people who bought the set swapped a bunch of things out makes me wonder if they have decided its easier to let people just pick their own bits?

That Multirotor Parts kit looks like it could be a good deal? I think I need to teach myself how to solder...

You need to provide your own Flight Controller so don't what the issues are.
The only ESC issue I remember was their voltage supply was causing issues with the KK2.1.5 board from starting up?

Yeah, thats what the comments are full of. To be fair they do recommend the KK2.1.5 in the listing, so I expect a lot of people bought that expecting it to just work (its also the only FC listed in the 'Combine Items' bit on that page).

It looks like motors and ESCs are the hold up, so I might see what I can price up on my own.

If you have a look at the 'Combine Items' list, the ESCs and the Motors are on back order, so I expect they have had to stop taking orders until they know what they are going to get and when.

Actually a hell of a lot of stuff is on back order at HK. Its as if multi rotors have taken off and become really popular all of a sudden :p:D

Peer preassure (:p) and having a hoot with my X4 have made me want an FPV250.

But seeing Taggart break his makes me wonder if something more 'disposable' as a frame might be better? Like Rotor Bones?

Well, I've just dropped some cash on the parts for an FPV250. They just look so cool that I had to. I've gone with a MultiWii board rather than the more popular KK2 so I can put Megapirate on it and use the APM software. Also gives me altitude hold and GPS that I wouldn't get with a KK2.

This is what I ordered:

1 x FPV250 frame
4 x Turnigy Multistar 1704 1900kv motors
4 x Turnigy Plush 10A ESCs
2 x Turnigy Nano-tech 1500mAh 3S batteries
1 x Cirrus MultiWii AIO board
1 x 35mm power distribution board
1 x Neo-6M GPS module for MultiWii
1 x Cable for GPS
8 x Gemfan 5030 tri-blade props (4 x CW and 4 x CCW)
1 x Bunch of M3 nylon standoffs
1 x FrSky X8R receiver

I have a 250mW vTx and a 700TVL FPV camera spare so didn't need to buy those.

Looking forward to screwing it all together.

Yes, it's utterly superb and keeps getting better and better with every update.
I use one with all of my models including the S800 EVO and it's utterly faultless. The telemetry is fantastic too for how cheaply you can add sensors.

Good! just checking. I remember reading that someone was really happy with theirs so I put my email in for stock alert ages ago. The email just came in so thought I would quickly grab one.

So what do you guys find is the most fun with these. Is it worth just getting one that can fly or is a lot of the fun in the FPV aspect of it?

I find burning myself with a soldering iron into the wee hours as much fun as flying :p It's all about the tinkering... Flying FPV is a little bit cool though :D

Rilot, did you get the long frame or the standard FPV250? I jumped onboard when they were first announced and preordered a standard 250, wish I'd got the long now, it's a bit of a PITA fitting everything onboard, and I don't even GPS :p
