Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

Just bought one of the new FrSky L9R RX... no telemetry (don't use it anyway as have iOSD for voltage) but reports are up to double the range :)

Is that double the range of the taranis? I'm ordering this week coming and am still unsure what to get as nobody replied to my last post :(

Anyone know anything about the Eagle tree vector FC? I can't decide between that or the naza v2.

Also if anyone has recommendations on what motors to get as per my last post it would be most helpful. Where to order from would be great too!

Yeah for Taranis. I guess the range I'm getting with X8R is around 1.5-2KM.

I don't know anything about that FC, but it looks neat and appears to come with OSD. You can't go wrong with Naza M V2 though, get a iOSD Mini for it also for your FPV OSD maybe.... I really like DJI flight controllers, they just work so dam well.

Sorry don't know anything about your motor question :(

FPV250 built and test flown. Very stable and extremely acrobatic in manual mode.
Many will question my use of a Naza with GPS but I wanted to do it to see if it could be done. It can and it works well.

Final spec:

FPV250 frame
Turnigy Multistar 1704 1900kv motors
Turnigy Plush 10A ESCs
FrSky X8R receiver
FrSky FAS40 40A current sensor
DJI Naza Lite v1.1 with GPS
200mV vTx
FatShark PilotHD FPV cam with 720p recording
LED strips under the arms (red at front, green at back)

AUW = 580g so it's a bit of a lard-ass for a quad of this size

Also installed a funky folding GPS pole

Flew two packs through it last night and got 7 minutes with a mix of hovering and general mucking around.

Hey guys, i was flying today for the first time after a big crash a couple of weeks ago. Everything was fine, did a few take off's flights and landings but then whilst hovering, for almost no reason the quad flipped over and crashed. When i picked it up one of the esc's was flashing a red light and the motor (yes the motor itself) was beeping. Anybody know what i need to do to get it running right again as i was luckily only flying around 8ft in the air. Spec list is:

Afro 30A esc's
HK 2.1.5 FC (1.6 firmware)
Ntm 28-36 1100kv motors
10 x 4.5 props
Talon v2
3s battery

I unplugged the battery and switched it back on to find it started up as normal. I now have no confidence in flying it far at all!

Serious lack of video and photos in here guys!:D:D

Don't be to critical, only my 3rd flight was in AP mode. Using the supplied go pro mount. I have the auction site brushless Gimbal ready to install. I have flown helicopters and planes before not to a great standard so taking it easy with the Quad. Next time I'll take it onto the old airbase and practices some manovers.

Here's a video, getting around 11-13 mins per battery. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=EWH5LksrLFI

The Naza V2 is better in every way than the Lite. The position hold is more accurate, altitude hold more accurate and it just flies better. The other major benefit with the V2 is that you can use the other DJI accessories with it such as the iOSD, BTU and Zenmuse gimbal. The lite supports none of these.

Made the first flight with the Naza at the weekend, worlds apart from the APM. Alt hold is rock solid and position hold is excellent too

Feel a lot better being able to just fly rather than having to constantly tune it

I'm getting confused with all the parts hehe, what radio gear are you using? I'm starting to think I should just get a qx350 or something.

I bought a Knog beetle light off ebay and cable tied it to my 250. It now has headlights, not bad for £2 :)

Ive also noticed I have a bent shaft, so a new motor and esc are on order. Both from HK so I have a few weeks wait :(
