Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

Just found out the new FrSky L9R won't send RSSI value back to Taranis, you would need to rely on getting value onto OSD (which I cannot do with iOSD Mini)

Cancelled order as I aint gonna fly 5KM without knowing signal strength :)

Buy proper radio lol ;).

Nice, I looked at a ezuhf jr module but I don't think I'll bother... that's prolly left for people who fly wings rather than lard ass UAVs :)

I need to get some kit together for a couple of student projects. They need to get something capable of a stable hover to start the project proper and was thinking of the following:

ARTF Kit - F450 & Naza V2

9XR

Is this likely to present any problems getting off the ground into a stable hover? Also the transmitter need to be hackable? Current kit is a mess and used a rather unfriendly APM flight controller and the students spent more time trying to sort that out.

Thanks

if your requirements are just a stable hover, a FPV250 setup will be much cheaper than a Naza, or do you want to upgrade the kit later?

It needs to carry some electronics as a payload so thought the FPV250 a bit small. That said I also need a couple of FPV250s as well, when they are back in stock that is, for another project.

The APM setup was a pain for the students so want them up and flying asap, though can't justify the cost of a full RTF kit at the moment.

so, my naza v2 arrived today, i wired it up to my esc's and frsky v8fr ii.

i am getting nothing from either my transmistter (9xr) or the naza software.

i try to test the motors and nothing happens.

anyone know of a complete idiots guide to this stuff?

9xr manual would probably be a good place to start......

If the V8fr (rx) is getting power then it needs to be bound to the 9xr (tx)

I don't know the 9xr but I think it uses openTX firmware, so may well need to be set up from scratch (the Taranis does, and that's openTX firmware too)

Where are you up to with the build?

Have you plugged in the lead from the PMU to X3 on the Naza?

I forgot to plug this in when I did mine and the board wouldn't power up at all

i don't have the PMU connected it powers up from the esc's. is this where i am going wrong?

its not connected because i don't have anywhere to connect it to power. im using power distribution leads rather than a board so don't know how to get power to it.

This might help with binding?

Just looked at the Tx on hobbyking and it looks like you will need to set it up.....

i will add that to the list of things to try. thanks for your help mate.
