Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

Can't you just tap into the power supply from your battery that goes to your power distribution leads? Would require a bit of soldering but it isn't hard

I don't know if you can run the V2 without the PMU, haven't tried

Ok, back the truck up.

The PMU needs to be wired directly to a power source. As far as I know, this is directly from the flight battery and can be anything from 2s-6s batteries. It doesn't self power from the BEC on the ESC's.

Ok, that's one for a hexa so it should 6 pairs of bullet connectors? And yours is a quad? So there should be a couple spare?

If that's the case, I'd either solder on a couple of bullet connectors to the naza pmu lead and hook that up but the preferred option would be to snip a couple of bullets off the harness and solder them direct to the leads from the PMU. That is one connection you definitely don't want to come undone in the air!

Good work, that was quick :)

Took me about a day to get the Taranis set up how I wanted it (I'm a slow learner)

Maiden flight about now then?

not yet, i think im still missing something. in theory when i remove the usb from the led. turn everything on i should technically be able to fly. thing is nothing is happening. the led is flashing red/orange

Does anyone have a link to a FPV video of some quads racing / chasing each other through a underground car park?

I can't remember if I saw it in this thread but haven't had any luck finding it again. It was pretty impressive how quick and manoeuvrable they were!

Compass might need calibrating, tx might need calibrating or something not wired correctly

Starting to get frustrated...... :P I've settled on the F450/Naza V2 FC.

Now I'm struggling to find a tx/rx combo in stock. I'll be happy to go with a Devo 10 or 9XR or a Taranis (all mode 2) - does anyone know of a source for either, unless there's a real reason to wait on one of them... woould also need the tx to works with one of the RC simulators, assume they all will with the necessary adapters??

Thanks

These guys have Taranis / X8R combo in stock, they are such a reliable company to deal with. If you ordered today it would arrive tomorrow :)

The Taranis is more than a Devo10, but it's a much nicer radio (I've owed both). Taranis extra cost is worth it from the RSSI realtime data (radio signal strength data) alone. It should work fine as a controller in Windows, just use a USB lead.

The below link is good for a rough guide on setting up Taranis with Naza with flight mode switches etc...

Many thanks for that and the guide :) Have ordered the F450 (from quadcopters uk) and the Taranis (from FPV uk), both claim to be in stock and next day delivery. I have batteries and charger so should be good to go. Thanks again.
