Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

I would cry if I did this.

buy it make it fly it abuse it crash it buy it

Still, at least he didn't accidentally spang it into the back of the basketball players head! That would have been messy!

In other news..... Had a look at my motors yesterday. As predicted, one of the circlips did try and escape. Cue 10 minutes of fingertip floor searching. I really should clean my floor more often. Yeuch.

Anyways, 3 of my motors seem to have some slop in the bell. I can pull it up vertically by 1 or 2mm. The shafts look straight and they are only vibrating at certain speeds, not all the time. Looking at the graph in baseflight it looks quite bad and I can feel it quite strongly in the frame. Bugger.

several options... buy new motors, try and push the bell back down the shaft a little, try and balance them using tape, stick the sunnyskys on it.

Will keep you posted on my progress.

I'm using the 9X with FRsky DJT and D8R II Plus, I get telemetry in the way of beeps and I get them around the 800m-1km mark. I'm wanting a bit more range :)

I went out today and had a great flight, Excuse the wobbling edges at times as I used Youtube's stablization thing to see what it's like and it's not that bad tbh.

Nice video, went on a bike ride past the Telford park chimney the other day and thought it would be a good spot for some FPV. You are a brave man flying over those trees :)

Cheers, you have got to have faith in your machine or you will never go anywhere fun :D

I'm thinking of ironbridge next. Will have to go early though to miss the visitors.

New Hubsan X4 with 2mp camera ordered for my sons birthday. Crash pack as well!

He's excited - but me even more so!

He's only 7 but has already decided to write a business plan to get him mum to allow him to buy a DJI phantom. His plan is to use it for school fate, weddings, and other events to charge and make money.

Not a bad idea for a 7 year old!!

Let's hope mum doesn't know anything about CAA regulations then.

I'll have more faith in my 250 when it stops dropping out of the sky for sod all reason :D And props shearing in flight :(

The only reason mine drops is due to pilot error *cough* And it doesn't seem to be a drop so much as a full tilt smack into terra firma. Must fly higher.

I had a run of bad luck which hopefully has passed. Lost one motor after the another for 4 successive flying sessions, smoked 2 ESCs (no apparent reason, not stressed/shorted), had a BIG crash (my fault) and lost a battery... Add in some props disintegrating in flight and you have a recipe for disillusionment... It's just so good when everything works though :)

Mines the same, I was flying great with self level off and came in to land to check something......took off forgetting self level was off and nose dived into the dirt at some speed. Broke my camera mount, shorted and burnt out an SMD on my fatshark power filter and I still have to power it up again to see if anything else has broke. I'm praying my VTX didn't die when the filter shorted although I have a spare 250mw to use if it has, Excellent reason for me to upgrade to a lower frequency video system if it has :D
