Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

Does anyone run either Steveis 1.9 or RC911 ++ firmware on their KK2.1.5 in a 250? What are your settings?

I flashed RC911 ++ last night and no matter what I did to the gains it was oscillating all over the place and wandering in all axis. So I tried Steveis 1.9 and after setting everything up yet leaving gains default (same as I was using on the stock firmware) my first take off resulted in a high speed flip and tumble and snapped prop, at which point I went to bed :).

Nice smooth flying Genoma :)

I'll be hitting the sticks tomorrow afternoon, weather permitting, to put this HK sourced Naze32 through it's paces

As shall I be :)

Quad is now back together. No FPV gear yet though. I need to get my hover issues sorted.

STILL hovering at just over 50% despite now being massively over-propped with 6030's.

I'm sure it's a set up issue somewhere. I'm tempted to wack my spare acro on it to try and see if it's an issue with the current fc.

I had to rage quit this evening. I wish I'd never flashed that ruddy KK. 2 evenings I've spent trying to get it stable with no luck, and after snapping about 4 props I've now lost one of the prop nuts from a motor so can't fly it. It came very close to being thrown in a cupboard.

I'd just dial P down, say 10 points, give it a bit of a fly. If its better, knock 5 off and repeat, then 2 (pitch/roll are linked). Tbh, I've spent hours and hours messing about with kk pids and I'm never happy with it completely. Tune it out one day, the next day its a bit windy and its not stable :/ Naze32 is calling you :p

Pretty much my experience. I keep my KK as a spare. It's an alright FC, but never been happy with it for more than a few flights

Are you sure you've calibrated the throttle right, so you get full throw in baseflight, with 50% stick showing 50% in the application? No weird stick scaling/expo? At 50% mine is steadily gaining attitude on 5030 tri blades. I dare say it would be bang on 50% hover on 5" normal props

Yeah, throttle runs from 1000-2000 in baseflight. Midpoint is smack on 1500. Have calibrated the esc's through baseflight. Throttle_mid set to 1500. It's all set up by the book.

Thanks guys. Time to get on it!

well done although you could have got someone to proof read your site ;)

Mind pointing out where? I'll get round to it at some point as well but so busy at the moment!

Nice site... But you mention affordable and £800 a day on same page. ;-)

Yeah? As Skeeter said that is cheap. In fact that just matches our normal filming rate which is crazy when you consider what's required for a flight both before and on the day vs normal 'ground' filming.

We've worked with companies charging £2,000 per day with a smaller craft/lesser camera than us so!

Thing is it was fine with the stock KK setting when I got it. But even flashing back to that firmware it still wobbles all over the place and falls out the sky when you touch the throttle.

I do have a suspicion that I want to test though...

I only read the one page so other mistakes could be around but the ones I saw on the "rates" page were...

"We also have an in-house editing suite, plus a huge amount of experienced in ground-based filming, and any services that require this will be charged on a bespoke basis. Contact us for a quote today >>"

"If you're interested in using use for a smaller or simpler project then please get in contact with us below and we'll be glad to hear your ideas and provide you with an affordable quote."

Got the Naze installed yesterday, so much better than the KK didn't realise just how much better it could be.

After about 5 minutes I thought I would try some flips, the first one was bad but no crash but the second one was really bad, spiro antenna sheared from the adapter, mobius came flying off and smashed 3 props.

Stupidly reduced the throttle so much it cut out and also no where near enough height.

Was inverting really slowly there, I'm surprised you dared a second there? Even in the first one you seemed to have a lot of throttle through the flip.

Yeah I thought I might as well try again as it was my last battery and was getting dark, probably not my brightest idea, I got a load of spares and had it fixed in 15min. Looked at some how to videos on YouTube so will try again at some point.
