Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

looks like dirt in the contact pins of the battery

Contact pins may fail when the Phantom 2 Vision is still in the air, triggeringan "Invalid Battery" warning. This causes autopilot to receive a “0” battery level, triggering the auto-landing failsafe. After updating to Autopilot (v1.05) and Central Board (v.1.0.1.18), the “Invalid Battery” warning will not occur in-flight, even if contact pins fail. This will prevent auto-landing. Autopilot will provide warnings if battery voltage drops lower than 10.65V(Autopilot can track battery percentage with and without the contact pins). If using iOS app v1.0.29, a message box will pop up to warn that "There has been a battery communication failure. Please fly carefully and bring your Phantom 2 Vision back to you ASAP.”
PS:The Phantom 2 Vision is "Ready To Fly," "Ready to Capture" and "Ready to Share" but it is still an aircraft. Keeping contact needles and pads clean is very important. Any dirt and dust may cause a communication failure.

Hi FC gurus...

Thinking of building a FPV 250 and as much as I love Naza FCs is this a waste of time and money and should I use something cheaper ? (was going to flash a Naza Lite with Naza M firmware)

Anyone know what best FC is out there at the moment, KK, Nase Arco, CC3D or MultiWII I see as options ?

FPV question.

Will this - http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=221656043022

Work with woth this - http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=151534362227

Also what antenna should i get?

I can't use goggles as wear glasses due to astigmatism

I'm in the same boat.....

I've got the exact same set up and it works fine. I'm using ibcrazy blue beam ultra for antennas at the mo. If you're planning on doing longer distance, might be worth looking at a helical or patch antenna for the monitor. They are directional though, so you will need to keep it pointing roughly at the multirotor.

I have used the KK2.1 with different types of firmware and was nowhere near as good as the Naze. If you just want a light and fast quad you probably won't need the features of the Naza. Not tried the CC3D or the MultiWii but if you look on RCGroups blackout clone thread I would say 90% of users are using the Naze32.

Also if I remember correctly your using a X8R on ur 550? I tried that on my 250 and I think the D4R-II is better suited for a 250 as it's lighter and has CPPM support so less wires. Just incase you were planning on getting another X8R for this.

Kk easiest to set up, but not as good flight performance.

Naze 32 and cc3d both very similar and both will now run the same software (cleanflight) naze is slightly cheaper and didn't use those stupid tiny connectors that the cc3d does.

I'd stay away from basic multiwii, both baseflight and cleanflight are forked from it and both great improvements, easier to set up etc.

Need to buy a Lipo Alarm for my 350 QX as its internal battery warning LED system is being a little aggressive. Was flying today for the 1st time with my new batteries, after knocking up a converter lead, and it started to show the 1st low battery (10.9v) warning after only 5-6 minutes. After flying all 4 batteries including the original one, and getting home I checked with my tester and they are all at over 50% capacity. I suspect as it was quite windy there was an occasional high draw which dropped them below 10.9v.

Perfect thanks :) ...I'll look at D4R-II also, as weight is everything on 250s

Thanks, 2 votes for Naze then... :D

Im going to start putting some of the f450 bits together this evening not all, just some, probably no soldering

With the soldering by the way what solder do prople tend to use, iv got some 17gr 60%tin and 40%lead stuff, do people also use a flux pen?

You should be able to get at least 10-12 minutes on the 2200mah MK1 version... so I would imagine you would get this and a bit more on the 3000mah MK2 and MK3 versions

I have one of these stuck to the bottom of my 350qx

(Don't suppose I could borrow your upgrade cable off you?)

That looks a ton of fun, can I ask what size battery's you guys use and flight times ?

I use 1500mah zippy compacts and get about 8/9 minutes but I'm not flying at full chat all the time

The other guy was using 1300mah nano-tech batteries and I think got around 7 minutes on them
