Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

Well parcel force strike again, I seriously doubt I will receive my parcel now even though it has been dispatched for delivery all day, I seriously wonder how an outfit like this who have been in the business for so long manage to fall so far short of company's much much newer.

There's a report on at 7:30 tonight on bbc one about drone's and safety if anyone's interested. Resource group were on the news this morning saying the skies are getting busy and more dangerous.

Edit, Programmes called Inside out (Midlands)

After bad mouthing parcel force my package arrived last night, great news..... Maybe.

I got my flight controller set up and wanted to hook up telemetry and other bits to my receiver so hooked up a battery which displayed a voltage of 6v so I instantly disconnected it and inserted the second which is displaying 11.6v. My understanding is anything under 3.2v per cell and the battery is no good?

This is how it shipped to me and now I'm a little cautious about hooking it up to a charger.

Yeah that doesn't sound right, if you hook it up to a LiPo charger it should tell you if the voltage is too low for it to charge

You could also check it with a volt meter just to be sure

Does anyone know where I can get some standoffs like this:

Either plastic or aluminium, need to be about 45mm high and ideally internally threaded but that isn't essential

11.6v is correct for a 3s battery at storage charge.

6v is broken and one of the cells has failed or most likely all 3 are down to 2v. Send it back to the vendor.

I finally got my Rotorpixel gimbal for my Vision. Ill assemble it tomorrow and hopefully take it out in the next few days.

Happy days!! :)

On the DJI450 kit

Identified the motors to the props yesterday, just spun them on. Mounted a CW motor and prop and a CCW motor and prop on two red arms. Measured where the ESC would fit to the motor cable, and slightly shortened the co-ax cable on the ESC so its not so long.

Fluxed the connectors on the bottom PCB and soldered a small blob of tin on the connectors ready so I can heat them up when I am ready to solder the wires on.

Spliced the co-ax cable seperating the mesh and twisting it, and spliced off a small section of the red cable and twisted on the two ESC's I am working on at the moment.

Will proceed further when I have some spare time

Ordered 5 pairs (10 in total) x XT60 battery connectors today, 5 male and 5 female yellow connectors for £2.99, they should be arriving tomorrow.

Should have said - I have loads spare sitting here!

To borrow ;)

Damn, missed out on that, no point now as my card has been charged

I would have given you some postage anyway so its not that much difference, cheers for the offer though :)

I had a bit of a saving, concidering a model shop was selling a pack of the same amount for £8 excluding postage, found them cheaper on ebay from a model shop on there.

Anybody got some spare red and black heat shrink for some of my wiring connections that I can borrow :)

I will return I promise :p I will pay for postage
