Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

Kk2 for me

Same. I tried a few other firmwares but it was when I was running some awful cheap props that made it unstable as hell. Now I've got a stack of Gemfans I need to retry them. Apparently the RC911 firmware is pretty decent, adding a hybrid auto level mode and making it far more stable than the stock KK firmware due to sensor tweaks.

Not that the stock firmware is bad, I've had no issues flying on default settings.

What flight board is everyone using on their multicopters

Using Naze32 on my Thorax. It flies but I need to mess about with the settings to make it more stable.

Got sidetracked with my Vision and Jato.

Installed my Rotorpixel Gimbal, added height to the Vision but its soooo nasty looking. Ive ordered some extended legs and will add them to the Vision when they arrive.

Guessing I'm the only one on here using apm board took my f550 hex out for its 1st test flight today needs a few tweaks for stability also bit of an issue with rtl when it's landed it's trying to move it's self across the floor which nearly caused it to flip on its back but all in all seems ok

So here it is the first filmed flight on my Quadcopter. It's only short because I want to be able to fly it before posting longer videos, lol.

It was also very cold and i didn't stay out much longer, i couldn't feel my fingers.

It's a 3D printed frame, CC3D fc, DYS BE1806 2300kv motors, emax 12a ESC, Turnigy nano-tech 1300mah 3S & Flysky th9X.

I'll get some better pictures of the quad up and better video soon.

James.

Nah, not the only one, I've got an APM on my TBS Discovery!
Have you run autotune? In my experience that removes all stability problems and may solve your rtl issue. Can't really help too much as I've never tried rtl.

I'm guessing you mean ESC calibration? you can do that without plugging into Mission Planner, to do that like it says here http://copter.ardupilot.com/wiki/initial-setup/esc-motor/
That should be the only motor related calibration you need to do.

Unless you mean configuring the motor layout but it probably wouldn't get of the ground in the wrong motor layout :D
Which of Peter's videos were you looking at?

No I've configured the esc and the layout of motors this sets up the offsets of any interference when the motors are running for the apm board

It's when the quad or hex is clamped to the bench whilst the plugged in the computer and the motors are run on 50% I'm posting on my phone at moment but when kids go bed ill post a link to the video off the laptop

I haven't done the auto trim I'm going need some more leads for the extra channels thanks for the tip tho

I've not heard of the Phantom having GPS no fly zones built in?

It certainly didn't prevent the few instances of people flying them over airports in the UK.
