Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

I tried to capture some video but my pc is terrible, the quad I use is the mt2208 its fast and agile but I had to up the sim speed to 1.1 to make it feel more like a mini quad and set the stick throws to 120% in the sim also, it doesn't fly like a f450 trust me :D so as long as the version has the mt2208 in it your fine. As for the lead, you don't need one the taranis plugs in to the pc through its usb port and aero recognises it as a control unit.. sorted.

read some of the reviews, just make sure the basic one has the quad you want.

From looking the standard only has 1 multirotor, doesn't list which one though. the pro version has 4 but that is £69, the carbon quad is in the pro, mt2208 is only in the ultimate version :(

Cheers will look in to it when I'm home :) sounds good enough for what I need it for although didn't really want to chuck 60 at software, might just continue learning as I am

finally got it dialled to flip, some fun on 4s yesterday but didn't realise I was low on props and now I'm out :)

Edit - ta for the tip on embedding the vid :)

Oh well that was a fun 1 minute out, still finding it hard to navigate the 250 properly with LOS, yet on the 450 I am brilliant with LOS. Even in angle or horizon mode I still cant get confidence up. Came down with a thud again, tore off my camera mount and broke some of the plastic things that go through them to hold it in, lucky I think I have spare. Broke a prop so I am out of CW props. ejected my micro SD from the camera.

I tried rate mode for 20 seconds but it felt really uncomfortable, pitch forward and it stays in that position. Didnt feel comfortable so switched back to horizon

Put a small piece of electrical tape over the sd card slot.

It doesnt pop out in normal cases, but I will, just like my camera mount doesnt usually come off, it hit the deck hard enough to break some plastic things that go through them.

Wanted to give the demo of AeroSim RC a go, but looks like I cant just do it with the USB and have to use a stereo type connector, luckily I had an aux cable in my car for my stereo

I am a bit dissapointed that Phoenix doesnt have the better product here when it comes to multi rotors

I am reluctant to spend money on sim software, but looks like there is no other way

Think I am going to have to go back to basics with some slow flying, and learn to munovour properly again as I have seem to have lost it a little

Lovely days flying today. Sun was out to start with and everything was generally top. I got some nice los and a bit of fpv in on the 250 but.........

Quick question; say for instance, someone I know had a small fly away incident today that involved their craft accidentally getting up to an undisclosed altitude before coming down with quite a thump and that friend of mine had a video of said incident, would you advise posting it? I wouldn't want to get him in trouble with the CAA.

Suffice to say, I'm trying to help him debug the issue at the moment but it looks like the throttle developed a mind of it's own. Scary. His craft has never shown any problems before and no, it's not a dji unit. Failsafe was set up and tested working, the Taranis never reported a loss of signal and the flight log shows that the fc switched into failsafe when commanded but didn't execute the fs procedure.

What is amazing though, is that when it fell from said undisclosed altitude, the only damage it suffered was 2 broken props and a bent GPS mast. Blimmin strong this carbon fibre stuff.

Video from today, stupidly thought the gap in the trees was the nice clear one I was flying through earlier. Still no damage other than the mobius flying off, the HQ plastic props have been great so far.

Personally I wouldn't post it, it just gives people the fuel they need to say that they that fail and can do serious damage.

Just out of interest what flight controller, firmware version and RX was it?

I finally got to fly my Syma X5c outside today but I really need get some extra batteries and travel somewhere with a bit more space. I got up quite high which I'm pleased about!

That's unmistakably the New Forest- where abouts?

Could it be the failsafe bind on the receiver? On loss of signal some of the rangeRx receivers will setset the throttle to whatever value it was set to at bind time.

What's your setup Ash? You and Kanifee have what looks like great handling quads. Mines a wobbly jittery unstable handful in comparison :(.

Had a flyaway today, got it back, smashed pretty bad.

Top plate
1 white arm
Full set of props
E300 ESC
E300 Motor
Landing gear
Zenmuse clip
Zenmuse cable
GPS mount

Motor and esc I might get lucky and they be ok.

Debating what to go for landing gear wise now

Is it a small quad with high kv motors? a desync can cause rapid uncontrollable throttle. and carbon isn't that strong, I have cracked another two arms and my tail piece :( its still in one piece and solid but for how long is the guess. Every uk stockists is sold out of the base plate too:mad:

Nice flying too ash, took mine out today but the Mobius was dead.

Going to take the 450 out in a sec, again done a temp mount with the mobius camera, and FPV gear is temp mounted. Hopefully there wont be too much vibration, enough to get a slightly decent video.

Going to capture some of the River Servern coastline. This wont be my finest work visual wise, but hopefully not too bad, but its sunny and I want to fly

Still only have one 4S battery for my 450, need to get another one at some point
