You're way way over propped for those motors on 4s. Plus, those 1000mah packs will be dead in no time, assuming the escs survive.

Cool, thanks Rilot - nice little weight saving there then. Are any of the Mobius 'clones' that are available online worth trying out or is it best to just cut to the chase and grab a genuine Mobius?

A genuine mobous is about £50, it's pretty decent but it isn't a gopro.

I'm happy with it mind :)

I'll wait till the X8C arrives and try the SJ4000 with it first. Was going to just use the credit card DIY 'anti-jello' mount first but I've seen a cool carbon fibre anti vibration mount online for under a tenner which seems to get good reviews. Also found carbon fibre replacement rotor blades and just ordered a pair of extended and widened DJI Phantom 2 legs which are a straight swap for the standard ones on the X8C.

This could start to be an expensive new hobby!! :D

Had a flight with my 250 the other day, stock PIDs in latest clean flight with some adjusted pitch roll rates. Seemed good but still rather than speedy seems too floaty and lacking oomph.

I did get some laps around some trees in rate. Although snapped off the antenna, vtx and pigtail OK.

I think if I may end up selling it at some point if I can't get around to using it as much. Or if it have a bad crash I may not end up building a new one.

Finally got around to testing the X5 under the Inspire. Couple of quick pics just converted straight to jpg in LR. The Pano was 4 pics.

Lens was the Olympus 12-42mm pancake zoom. Not too impressed with it to be honest. It's a bit on the soft side. I'll fly with the awesome Olympus 12mm f/2 later.

Awesome pics there, Rilot. Loving the pano one! :)

My RM tracking info shows my X8C is 'out for delivery' today. I feel like a kid waiting for Santa! :D

Also, do any of you guys have any good website links for multi rotor parts, accessories and goodies? And are there any good UK based forums for enthusiasts? I've signed up to RCGroups and while there's loads of good info there, it's a USA based forum.

It's arrived! :D

Assembling it now.

4 x blades are marked A1, A1, A2, A2 respectively.

4x Blades are marked B1, B1, B2, B2 respectively.

The arms on the X8C - 2 are marked 'A' and 2 marked 'B'.

Do I just fit either the A1 or A2 blades to the 'A' arms on the body and the B1 or B2 blades to the 'B' arms? I take it that the fact that the blades are marked with numbers doesn't really matter?

Any joy then?

Yeah m8, found some info on the RC Groups forums so I'm pretty sure I've got the blades on correctly. Had a play with it in the back garden, it's actually harder than I imagined to fly! Seems to need a bit of trim added to it as when it takes off it won't hover perfectly still and wants to move backwards and to the left a little bit. Have ordered a couple of spare batteries as well.

Trimming is normal. Just bear in mind any form of breeze or wind will push it one way or another.

But yeah, a 'manual' flight as I like to call it is going to be more tricky than something with altitude hold or Gps lock etc.....kind of glad k brought el cheapo as it gets you used to flying with no aids as sich. Saying that I'll probably never get a DJI inspire/phantom, one because of money and two because I like to fly around and move about quickly!

Maiden flight today!!

Went for my first proper flight attempt with the X8C this afternoon. Local park, loads of wide open spaces with no trees. Perfect. Was surprised though at how much even a fairly light breeze affected things. Also surprised on just how much easier it was to fly when I removed the camera. That said, All I really did was practice taking off hovering and landing and then progressed to taking off, hovering, moving to a fixed point and then back again before hovering and landing again. The quad flew pretty well as far as I can tell, with only a little bit of trim applied.

Question though - I assume it is normal for the drone to become slightly less responsive as the battery gets to the stage where its had enough? I found at one point I took off, climbed to about 15-20ft and hovered and the breeze started blowing the quad backwards, I applied a bit of forward pitch and it only seemed to want to do so a little bit, certainly not enough to combat the breeze which grabbed it. About 2 minutes later I landed it and that was the battery done with so I assume there just wasn't the power to respond 100% to the signal it was getting to pitch forward.

Also, I could maybe do with a hi-viz jacket which has 'Quad pilot learning - keep well back' :D. The amount of adults as well as kids that seemed to be drawn right up to it like magnets was concerning. At one point I had to ask a little girl's parents if they wouldn't mind keeping her away from it as she kept running up to it as soon as it dropped anywhere near head height and looking like she intended on grabbing it when it had touched down. 'She's just playing' was the reply.

Anyhow, also fitted my DJI Phantom legs to it which seem much more stable and give increased ground clearance as well. A few quid well spent I think, especially once I get the hang of it and stick the SJ4000 on it to see how that goes.

Nice and bright! I could have done with that!

But yeah, breeze will affect it particularly if it's.more of a manual flyer with no GPS hold/altitude hold.

Defo keep an eye on battery power, my quad starts flashing when it gets low so I know to bring it in soon...I lost my last one because I went for 'one more flight' and the wind took it, then didn't have enough juice to pull it back.

Cool, cheers chap. My LED's flash too when it's getting low on power but in the daylight it's not easy to see. I read there is an audible warning mod you can add which might be worth me considering especially when I'm still learning. Got 2 x spare batteries on order but I also read it's not a good idea to fly for more than two batteries worth of flight time otherwise you can over stress the motors? Or is that an urban myth?

No idea tbh.....I fly five on the trot sometimes lol, but my quad cost me £35 so I'm not too fussed.

I guess technically it can do that? If you're concerned just take a few minutes break

I'd like to get a basic drone just to learn how to use one and see how much I enjoy it rather than splash out on an expensive bit of kit that I get bored with.

I was going to get a Hubsan X4 but it looks like the JJRC H11C is a good first drone kit to get for about £35. Not sure if I can mention the seller I've found on here.

So for a first drone is this a good one to buy to see if I'm interested in spending more on a better kit later on?

Are there any guides anywhere as to where I could fly this, either with or without the camera?
