Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

I got my FC fixed, went out of a test flight and one of my motors immediately burned out. I'm trying to get it replaced at the moment but suffice to say it's not proving particularly easy and I won't be ordering from Hobby King again!

Or just buy, fly it in the school holidays recreationaly and notice someone has posted a youtube video that magically shows there is a leak on the school roof....

starting to wonder if I'll ever actually get this thing off the floor in a way that doesnt involve hitting something a few seconds later. shiney things.. bad habit.. really should have known better..

Yeah, what quad? And why are you crashing/how? :p

Just takes practice m8, I've been flying my X8 for a couple of months and only now am I getting a bit more confident with it. Find somewhere local with wide open spaces/few trees and just fly it. Eventually things will come good. :)

Oh and whatever make/model you have, don't fly using headless mode. Learn to fly naturally first. Headless is ok for getting the thing back if you are at a long distance and aren't sure which way its pointing but it's better to learn the basics first.

Are there any good places to buy second hand in the UK? I'm interested in getting a budget fpv goggle setup.

Various quad/drone related forums have Classified sections. There are also a number of Facebook groups which specifically deal with buying/selling multirotor equipment. Have a look on FB for 'drone junkyard'.

You know you need more than just the goggles to get fpv yes? Unless you have an fpv ready quad :)

Yeah Delvis, I would be looking for a full setup with tx etc

Just making sure :)

I would look up your quad and see how other people have done it also just to get an idea.

Okay, the 3 x lipo batteries I ordered from Banggood have arrived from the Netherlands in the UK, I *think* they now get handed over to Royal Mail. Just hope they actually arrive at my end, I've heard random stories from people ordering lipo's from Banggood, Hobbyking etc who never receive them because Royal Mail refuse to deliver lipo's? Then again, plenty of UK based folk on a quad FB page I'm a member of say they have ordered lipo's from overseas with no problems. I guess it must just be down to luck?
