Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

I'll do some Googling. :)

Any recommendations on where to buy the DJI P3?

Amazon have it for £415 but not currently in stock.

Anything between £400-£450 seems the going rate for a P3 Standard just now. Mine was £449 from Clifton Cameras with free shipping. I've seen them on Banggood for about £370 but you need to wait for a good few weeks usually until it arrives. It's maybe just me, but I preferred buying from a UK supplier. :)

You'd get done by customs for sure.

As it was a gorgeous morning I took the P3P out

Stunning shots m8, nice one. I was out this afternoon with the P3S but it was very dull and grey so didn't get any great images.

I found the flight data which related to my crash (I think) and ran it through the Healthydrones website, quite a few warnings in there:-

Cheers fella, was a nice morning for flying.

With your P3S, did you do all the normal calibrations for imu and compass?? And do you know if you had enough satellites locked??

Yeah, IMU was calibrated and the compass was calibrated the previous day. I didn't calibrate the compass at the location I was flying in where the crash happened as I thought it wasn't needed? Folk on a Phantom FB page I'm a member of said that calibrating the compass before every flight was overkill?

Had a Google of this 'Mode 25' Follow Me flyaway issue and it looks like I'm not alone - there are threads all over the place about people having something similar happen to them. This video is exactly what happened to mine (albeit this is a Phantom 4) :-

The compass calibration is needed after a firmware install, and if you plan to fly over 50 miles away from previous one.

Cool, when I switched on the Phantom for the very first time it did a firmware update and I calibrated everything at the time. I've yet to fly over 50 miles difference from locations. A guy over on Phantom Pilots forum said DJI told him if a user uses Follow Me mode, it invalidates any subsequent warranty claim which may arise! That ain't included in their advertising!!

Got a Phantom 3 Pro and thinking of getting some prop guards, are people using the clip on ones or the genuine DJI ones that are permanent a fix?

have batteries got better in the last 2 years?

I'm saying this as I haven't flown my dgi phantom for about that long and only use to get about 8 minutes out of it with camera and gimbil on it.

thanks
