Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

I 'updated' the firmware on the Taranis last night, now got the D8 option. But yea, the receiver is 100% dead. No idea how or why.

New one should be here tomorrow.

Ah well it happens to us all at some point.

Been trying to get out with mine after swapping to the Martian ii 5" frame, barely have an hour after work though and it's just getting less.

There another race meet a week on Sunday if anyone from the Midlands fancy coming?

IT'S ALIVEEEEE

Yep, second flight complete. Acro mode is insane! Got angle mode for now.

Question, the yaw is super slow, as is the responsiveness of the quad. Not as 'nimble' as the Hubsan, is this just due to size? Or is it dumbed down on defaults?

Also, wasn't the rx in the end, it was the PDB! Must have suffered and issue as I no longer get motor twitching either. Now in the bin anyway.

Here is a quick clip of me showing my mates as there is 3 of us getting into this. And I'm showing the different modes to them (WA vid, hence the poor quality).

I think I prefer acro mode, more challenging. This vid is my 3rd flight. The last flip was my mistake, I stopped holding back on the pitch! Muppet.

I've killed 3 props so far, tried tri and double blade, 5040 on both sets. Honestly, I'm too new to this to even notice a difference right now.

Had to cancel my Mavic order, spoke to supplier and they have been told that DJI haven't even started producing the NZ/AUS units yet and have shipped less than 1% of their orders. Zero chance of getting mine before we leave on the 22nd Nov, a bit disappointing as had grand plans to use it in Singapore. Might pick one up in the UK instead as the NZ dollar is quite strong against the pound right now.

You'll want to learn acro/rate mode, it'll be easier to fly in fpv

I have a phantom 4 with 3 batteries that I am selling. What is a reasonable price?

Drone is complete without damage and about 8 hours in the air.

This isnt overly joyful, but not as much as you think sadly due to the Mavic around the corner.

Got several packs under my belt, I've tried to use acro mode as much as possible, I'm using horizon mode at the moment to get my roll and pitch rates down to how I like it. Then will go full acro.

Getting a lot more comfortable with it now :D

second flight with my new x220 wizard (first one ended in disaster due to bad quality), loving this thing now! First racing quad I have owned, but not the last :p

Although true about the Mavic, the 4 still has some advantages (although not many)

£700 to £800 seems to be about the going rate on Ebay for yours although there is one with 3 batteries and a hard case still unsold at £700 today with 4 hrs left so perhaps the prices has now dropped even lower.

It'll fly differently between the two a little bit. As you won't be fighting the bounce back from the auto levelling.

QUESTION TIME!

When I drop my throttle to 0, it cuts the motors, I'm now seeing this isn't good as I often cut them too much and it stops a flip.

Is this how most people have it setup? Or should I disable the 'stop motors spinning when armed"...

They really did soft launch this just to stop sales of GoPro's Karma! Still holding out faint hope for a mid-November UK delivery...

While people are talking about selling, am I better off restoring mine to standard and selling the bits seeing as I'm not using it anymore?

** Removed - this appears to be an advert / for sale listing which is against the rules **

great, this is really useful.

I've been offered £1k so will take their hand off as soon as I am home.

Set a min throttle so zero isn't actually zero. Failing that you could look up air mode I think it's called?
