Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

Yeah, get a Phantom. Easy to fly and fun.
By the time you've added a gimbal to take a camera to a Tarot and got all the electronics in there you will have spent far more and actually have a less capable system with only an analogue video feed for example.
Only only really see one use-case for the really big stuff these days and that's if you want to carry an SLR camera such as a Canon 5D or a Panny GH4. In the second case it's actually debatable whether it's required even for the Panny as an X5 gimbal slung under an Inspire or M600 will be just as capable.

Thank you for the advice. :)

What do you all think to the Tarot 650 Sport? I am told they are very easy to fly?

I have the tarot 680pro hex frame and its a fantastic frame

Bit difficult to put together as you need 3 pairs of hands to bolt it together when all the cables are soldered on

Use plenty of threadlock and check each pin for tightness where the arms fold in as they work themselves loose

Mine cost around 900 fully built with full fpv

It's better to reduce the vibration that's causing it. Failing that some rubber mounts will help.

This.
Balance your props and motors.

Already perfectly balanced - however while it *is* balanced I noticed a feathering of carbon fibre at the end of one (like the CF layers coming apart), even though it balances - id imagine this would disturb airflow enough to vibrate the image.

Got new props incoming today

A couple I took yesterday while getting my entry for a DJI photo competition, Twice now I have captured a passing rain cloud while trying to take photo's of something unrelated. I wish I had got a Phantom so much sooner.

Nice images, what Pantom do you have? The Phantom 4 was on the rainforest for £799 tonight, my mate bought one, it's amazing what a glass of wine can do to loosen people's wallets lol

They're amazing. Especially that top one. You should stick it on a site where people buy prints!

Here's a quick video of me testing a new frame today too.

Thanks a lot!, I have the Phantom 3 professional. I did see that offer earlier, A real bargain but I would put another £200 towards it and get the Mavic.

The Mavic looks good. I'm looking for a drone myself, I'll wait until the Mavic drops in price or something special appears in the Members Market. What worries me about some of the drones is the range of the wifi, seems to be a hit or a miss, the Mavic's range is a lot better.

I saw the Mavic in the flesh today and I must say it's an amazing bit of kit. When my mate walked up to us at our race meet today I asked if he had brought it with him, He then pulled a tiny bag from behind his back....Would never know he had it otherwise!

I will be getting one as soon as I possibly can :D

Here's a video a guy from our group did today, Weather was awful but it was fun.

Mavic is in such short supply at the moment. Two month wait if you order today from what I'm reading.
Might pull the trigger after xmas.

The quotable range has been reduced in the UK / Europe to allow for our local laws though. I think it is limited to 4 km or something like that.

Yes it seems that way, My mate ordered his as soon as the reveal was finished and waited an hour in a queue just to get on to the DJI store.

Lots of first world problem anger on the DJI forums about the wait time. The reasoning appears to be a combination of a component that needed to be fixed and then production not being able to meet demand after that. They think that they can fulfil orders this week by the end of the year, and orders before then earlier. If I can get my mid-October order by Christmas then I'll be happy :)

It does seem like general production is behind though, as accessories and spare components are also affected.
