Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

I sold it as the following:
Legs and centre plates as one item
Individual arms with motor, esc, and props attached
Gimbal
A2
iOSD Mk2
2.4GHz ground station link

A guy wanted the A2, iOSD, and Ground Station link together so I did a deal and knocked 10% off for those.

How come you're selling? Getting a Matrice 600 or something bigger like a Freefly Alta 8?

Another really nice sunset tonight.

Quite a few reasons but it's just not as versatile and useful for us, and camera technology has changed a lot in 2 years! Back when we bought it we primarly used 5DIIIs anyway so it was great but now we only touch them for photography. DJI still don't do a gimbal for our A7SIIs and even if they did we'll probably be changing cameras in a year or two anyway.

The quality they're getting from the DJI cameras is also fantastic - certainly good enough for everything we produce - and way more versatile due to weights. The main reason we were holding onto the S1000 was for aerial photography but even the Inspire 2 can capture 20MP images now.

Going back to one flashing LED for all error and technical readouts compared to via DJI Go feels a bit like the stone age as well.

We also bought the DJI S1000 with half an eye on entering new markets and doing higher end broadcast and film production. Those requirements have increased and we'd need to drop 50k+ on kit to compete efficiently, and we'd rather concentrate on utilising UAVs to compliment our existing ground offerings rather than being entirely standalone/specialist.

We've been using the Phantom 4s a shed load this year and they've been fantastic for extended flight times and a lower MTOM. We need to apply for blanket congested area flying as well and one restriction we'll set ourselves is only flying <7kg.

We'll likely get the Inspire 2 before March anyway but anything we get from the S1000 and its bits will just make it feel less wasted, otherwise it'll just sit there getting dusty.

Cheers, You don't see it much from that angle so easily missed :) I'm still amazed at the response it's had, It's certainly given me a good reason to get my licence.

I can certainly agree with that reasoning. It's pretty much the same reason I sold the S900. I was able to get better shots with more control and less hassle with the Inspire 1 so the S900 just sat on the ground or in my shed. I've actually switched over to Micro 4/3 for ground stuff now too. Means I only need to maintain one set of lenses. The GH4 is a fabulous camera.
I reckon the Inspire 2 is your man for your congested area permission. Dual batteries and IMUs has got to help with the risk mitigation part of the permission.

After seeing the video and reviews of the Diatone Crusader GT2, I'm thinking of buying it as my first drone.

The props on it are not so good though, so need to get better ones.

Also not sure what radio controller to get, batteries and goggles.

What else would I need?

Any opinions please?

Total budget is around £450

Ordered my Mavic Pro on the 11th October 2016 and still not arrived. Hate having paid money and being in an unknown wait.

Those who have received Mavics, when did you place your orders?

My order status changed to shipping overnight, so I guess I should expect an email and tracking details in the next couple of days. My order date was 17 October, but I'm not getting my hope up too much yet as others have seen the shipping status change back.

DJI have handled this very poorly. There are lots of US orders from late October that have already been delivered - the UK and some other regions seem to be lagging way behind.

Seems to be more and more common now in the Global market. Take olympus. The usa got their new model on Monday. Even Cyprus and Spain had them yesterday and you could walk in and buy one of the street.

The UK only got their stock yesterday and not enough to fulfill pre orders so some UK will have to wait until January.

That should never happen that preorders have to wait an extra month when some countries have surplus stock sat on the high street.
