Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

The 9x and FrSky module work great together and will do everything you need to for a great price. I got a DX6i for my first radio and moved to a Taranis, if I had known what I do now I would have went for a 9x + FrSky, it would have been cheaper and I wouldn't have needed to upgrade to the Taranis :)

BTW I tried out the IOC modes on my P2 yesterday. All I can say is wow! Brilliant for when I let friends try it out and they get all confused. One flick of a switch to HL and pull back on the stick.... home it comes! :)

Finally got my prop adapters and 9x4.7 carbon props on my Blade 350qx.

Half prop'd so you can see the difference in props

Fully prop'd

Test flight tomorrow to see if it still works as well as OEM 8x4.5's, some have reported that this prop size works well. Just hope its not chucking it down all day tomorrow. :D

So I ordered 4 spare batteries for my Hubsan x4 and an extra charge lead at a cost of around £20. Now one of the connections has broken (rubbed against the circuit board inside the body) and it will not properly power on. I may aswell have burned a £20 note.

Anyone know how I could fix this? (its the positive terminal that has broke)

Main connection that goes to this - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hubsan-X4...sGames_RadioControlled_JN&hash=item4177b2bd70

Just annoyed that's its broken already, especially as I have now got 5 batteries that cannot be used.

Is the quality of things like connections much better on the Blade MQX? I dont want to spend £100 (or £140 if I get BNF and a second hand DX6i) so find it breaks after a few weeks of use. Can you get prop guards for the MQX?

Suppose I can sell my x4 for parts and get ~£25 (5 batteries, prop guard, new props, TX & x4 all working except main board connection) Then wait until next payday and an MQX. I was thinking about the 350 QX but it doesn't look very indoors friendly!

edit - what is the difference with a ll the different TX types - http://www.wheelspinmodels.co.uk/s/?q=Spektrum+DX6i&x=0&y=0

Spektrum DX6i with AR6210 DSMX Receiver - Mode 1 - £138
Spektrum DX6i with AR6210 DSMX Receiver - Mode 2 - £115
DX6i 6 Channel Sport Radio Mode 1 TX Only - £95
Spektrum DX6i - Mode 2 Transmitter Only - £90

In my 1 year ownership and hundred+ hours of flight time of a Blade mQX I never had a single thing go wrong electronically despite 50 foot drop crashes on to grass, flying into walls, one head shot (my own, don't ask), flying it out side mostly and my dodgy flying skills.

The only thing I decided to replace were, one set of props because the edges were getting a little bit jaggy, and one arm as it started to show signs of flex.

I was so happy with my mQX I thought nothing of buying anything else other than Blade when upgrading to a Blade 350qx which recently survived an 80 foot dive into the ground with nothing broken, just a stress mark (only went down to due to me not shielding the camera).

Top 2 come with receiver, bottom 2 without receiver. Mode 1 is throttle on the right and Mode 2 is throttle on the left. Normal is Mode 2.

Edit - Hang on you don't even have screwdrivers? Getting into this sort of hobby you will need these various tools so see it as more of an investment.

Thanks. Just looking at the updates MQX (from what I can see) the 180 QX

http://www.wheelspinmodels.co.uk/i/206272/

Blade 180 QX HD BNF Requires:

'Spektrum transmitter, at least 4 channels for flying, at least 5 channels for flying + video switching function'

Does this mean the RTF version comes with a Spektrum TX? The RFT version is only £25 more than BNF.

Looks like a 200 QX model is coming soon - http://www.horizonhobby.com/products/200-qx-bl-bnf-BLH7780. however...
I saw the prototype of the 200 QX sitting next to the 350 QX, the 200 is a lot smaller then I first thought after watching the Blade promo flight video, and flight modes are same as the 180 QX. And compared to the 350 it has no compass, GPS or altitude hold. This thing looks cool but you get so much more with the 350,

Ive got loads of screwdrivers, but just not the one that fits the tiny screws on the x4

RTF version should have 5 channels on its proprietary TX otherwise it would be weird. But I'd still invest in a 5-6 channel TX even if its second hand.

I wonder what the price point will be in the UK on the 200qx

If you're really stuck, I'll solder a new bit of wire on to it for ya Guest2.

Really? That would be a great help if you could - I will owe you one (not sure what one may be but still) Where about's are you located?

I think going forward I may invest in a second hand Spektrum dx6i. Is it a good idea buying 2nd had as i would imagine quite a lot can go wrong with them?

About £90 new delivered or £70 2nd hand. Doesn't really seem worth buying 2nd hand

edit - Its £200 for the following new - Spektrum DX6i, E-flite Blade 180 QX HD BNF. Which begs the question, what else can be had for £200 either RTF or BNF

I managed to get a DX5e for about half price on eBay and there was nothing wrong with the controller at all.

Took the Blade 350qx out for a spin with its bigger carbon props today in 20mph wind and in Smart/Safe mode it flys well, even in strong gusts of wind, it also handled well in Stability Mode, lift off has improved and it seems nippier with the new bigger props. I am sticking to 10 minute flight time and it seems fine no low batt warning. In Smart/Safe mode on lift off on original props it would lift off when the left control was centered now it lifts off about two notches below, so it is a definite improvement.

North London, but often in/around Hertford during the week. I was thinking more via post, but if you are near enough ;)
