Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

It depends how much the battery weighs

x4 - 28.3g
prop cover - 3g
H107 240mah battery - 8.4g

80% throttle required to lift 15.6g (a packet of airwaves!)
100% throttle required to move 26g (airwaves and a USB pen drive)

It actually does fine with an extra 8.4g strapped to it

What would be a good camera that is light but quality is good? 808#16 I am reading but not too sure really

You're really going to struggle to find something that provides decent picture quality and is small enough for the X4 to carry. It will lift the 808 but flightime and performance will be massively impacted. (they weigh around 17g)

So it weights about the same as the airwaves.

Is it possible to take the 808 out the case and power both the x4 and camera from the same battery? This would massively reduce the weight of the camera I think

Guess so in theory, think the 808 is a single cell lipo the same as the X4. Realistically you aren't going to find a camera that is bothlight enough for the X4 and has decent quality without spending a lot of cash.
Better to go to a bigger quad and know you can just add an 808 or a Mobius easily :)

I think you are right.

Think I will wait until May and get this - http://www.horizonhobby.co.uk/aeroonline/e13_blade/e13-blh7780/e13-200qx.html

Are there any other alternatives?

Why not just get the HD camera version of the X4 that has the 1280*720 camera?
It's more powerful than the standard x4 as it has bigger motors at 8.5mm Ø vs 7mm Ø.

Started my build today. Gotta wait for the TX and RX to arrive

Just flashed my APM to 3.1.1 from 2.9.something (yeah I know I was way behind :p). The new setup wizard in Mission Planner walks you through the setup for you now which is handy, you'd need to be a bufoon to struggle now :)

I also setup CH7 on my Taranis as Autotune so I just need to find a weather window to take it to the park and let it tune itself :D

Bagged myself a Phantom 2 last week, so just like anyone else would do, I immediately tore it to pieces to mod it.

Fitted H3-2D, FrSky X8R rx, iOSD Mini, 3-channel video switch, fixed camera, 250mW vTx.

Very nice setup, almost exactly what I plan to buy for summer.

Have you flown it yet ?, if so would love to know how long flight time is.

Nope. Weather has been shocking around here.
I'm expecting 15 to 17 minutes based on what others are getting with the P2.

could someone please tell me what the difference is between the phantom and phantom 2? I already have a gopro hero 3+.

THanks

I did think about it and has positives and negatives

pos
Its only £50
I could sell my x4 and recoup some of the cost, I would imagine around £30-£40 with prop guard, 4 additional genuine batteries and prop removal tool

neg
prop guard and 4 additional hubsan batteries will not fit
camera quality is only apparently on par with and 808#9 (but not #16)

Is £50 in the UK or from China? And #9? you sure you were looking at the HD camera version and not the SD version as they do both, the HD 1 having either HD or 2mp camera mentioned.

The HD 1 also includes a prop guard and prop removal tool which I don't think the SD 1 does.
