Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

I havent got a power module so i need to connect JP1. All four of my ESC are UBEC. Do i need to only power via 1 ESC and cut the power leads on the other 3 ESC or do connect all 4 esc with power to the APM.

Just asking as i dont want to burn it out.

Should be gettting it delivered tomorrow
It's highly recommended to cut the +'ve wire or pull the pin on all but one of your ESCs.

Can't be no more difficult than a Tri / Heli? Has to be some plans on RCGROUPS for a decent 250 frame?

If you can competently fly a tricopter, a quad should be no problem at all. I find orientation very hard with quads though (tbh I find it hard with my tri too :p)

She flies just as good as the more expensive frames and cost around £8 to build.
This crappy weathers had the opposite effect on me,ive be building way too many quadcopters.

Cheers for the reply. Going to have to get off my arse and get building I think. I've got the Mobius camera now so need to put together a frame that can carry it and other stuff well.

Bad weather seems to just make me lazy! Need to change that.

From what I understand they're very smooth and feel locked in, a lot of folks who you see flying graceful FPV are using these like Juz, MidwestRob etc.
I think the Naze 32 boards are very similar in performance, maybe a bit better at acro and easier ont he pocket :)

Thanks, should be good to go then with more practice of the Tri. Unfortunately the weather here hasn't been kind :(
5x3 HQ props

no didnt get stung by customs :)
Cool thanks. Shall put it on the WANT list then :D alongside the Predator V2 FPV. ;)
PS: Would a 250 frame be ok for 2200mah 3S batteries? I have a few for my Tri and 450 Heli, don't want to be buying any others to be honest.

Edit: Those CC3D boards are about £60 arent they?

Got a reply from my local flying club, not allowed to fly rotary wing models unless you've been a member for 2 years flying fixed wing. Endangering the public it is then :(

I tried to contact my local club, they ignored me. Going by the website I reckon they don't want any of this new fangled multirotor stuff in their back yard.

That's the impression I get too. Oh well, that's their loss especially when there are far better places to fly than featureless model airfields and there are tons of people who you can fly with from forums and facebook groups :)

Yes 2200 mah would be fine,i can fit a 3700 3s mah under my diy one and she hovers at 50%.

If you get decent enough motors it wont be a problem.

Ive been looking in the wrong places then for a CC3D board,i thought they went for around £90,but ive only had a look at a couple of UK sites.

Thanks pazza. What kind of flight time do you get with a 3700mah? I would imagine I'd only get a few minutes with a 2200mah.

Could I just run 2 2200mah batteries in parallel? Maybe a bit overkill.

Very common. Most flying clubs are extremely snotty.
Back when I was flying collective-pitch helis I approached a couple of flying clubs in the Thames Valley area and was told by all of them that they wouldn't let me fly as they didn't like heli pilots who didn't also fly fixed-wing.
These stupid clubs are actually making things more dangerous for the public by turning away people with a genuine interest in flying.

I gave up with clubs after that.

That's retarded, my local flying clubs only restriction is no unsupervised flying for new members for their first few flights with ANY type of model while the flight instructor works out if you're competent or not.

My fathers flying club is even less restrictive!
