Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

ah yeah forgot about postage costs, actually I think postage from Hobbyking UK warehouse is about a fiver so it could save you a couple of quid

Not much in it really

Just paid £64 inc postage from HobbyKing direct website, for the turnigy and balance charger

I dont think the charget comes with an XT60 battery connector though, can you either make up a deans to XT60 convertor, or use the croc clips to connect the charger to the XT60 terminals when charging?

or will I have to buy a XT60 attachment for the charger?

Argh just realised my order was in dollars! And it was the US website

The order was placed in our UK warehouse and not in our US warehouse, Darren. Please be informed that only US citizens can place an order in our US warehouse while you can only place the order in our UK warehouse and in our International warehouse.

OK, so its coming from the UK website, I was confused as I was on the .com page, and when my payment was proceesed through paypal it was showing in $(*dollars*)

I hope this is correct

Let me know if you need a few XT60 connectors - I'v got spares here.

Also I got a deans to xt60 connector from ebay for about £2.50 or something.

I have lots of XT60 plugs, I was just wondering if I wanted to charge, would I need to make or buy a Deans > XT60 adaptor

I saw this in the Hobby King email this morning, it's an adapter to make a Mobius fit the GoPro form factor. It could be really useful making one fit gimbals etc. The lens looks a little vulnerable but it's a £40 camera and if the lens hits something you're likely crashing so it's the least of your worries.

Wonder how it compares weight a COG wise?
I didn't think of that but it's a good point.
I'm probably putting it on the front of my Disco or the camera box at the front of a Zephyr II or Venturi EVO FPV so it doesn't really matter ;)

For efficiency, lower KV motors and bigger diameter, lower pitch props make a big difference.

The HJ Alien 500 takes DJI arms right? if so there are longer arms that you can get for a Discovery that'll allow you to fit larger props.

edit: to answer your questions more directly they are called Aerialmob arm extensions, you can then fit 400KV motors and 15x5 or 15.6.5 props.

Thats what I did -put the XT60 on the battery, then bought a deans to xt60 connector for charging from ebay

Just make sure it;s the right one - male/female etc

Thats a thought which way round am I going to need to convert it? the lipo battery I ordered earlier I dont think (didnt in the picture anyway) have an XT60 connector, does this mean I am going to have to cut off and solder a new connector on the battery?

and then work out what way im going to convert from deans to XT60?

yes - cut off the end of the battery, solder on XT60 female connector. On your quad the power lead is a male xt60 connector, and then get a "deans to XT60" (ebay) adapter for the IMAX charger (as there is a deans cable in the box which you attach the deans to xt60 adapter)

That's the exact way I set it up and works fine.

Also always always always cut and then solder one battery cable at a time, you don't want two bare battery leads flapping about and shorting because that'll be a whole disaster of sparks, melting stuff and explosions.

Cut one cable, solder it to the new connector and heat shrink it before cutting the second cable. :)

Thanks for the info :)

Will order the deans to male XT60 convertor later also
