Muse's new album

Just returned from the wonders of Tesco with the album, and listening through it now from the CD.. It's a great album i think, definately craps all over Absolution and most of Showbiz to be honest. It's got nothing on OOS, but that doesn't stop it being a great album :)

As said before, Map of the Problematique is a great song and it's a killer song live too :D

Got myself the jewel version rather than Digipack, leave your flimsy cardboard at bay!

Great, can't wait to see the new stuff live.
But it wont be the same with 4 people :(

Still..... will be interesting.

After a bit more of a listen I am finding the first three tracks the strongest personally. KoC is excellent, but 'merely' excellent. I find Map of the Problematic a bit of a weak song now actually....

What does everyone else think?

You do realise all that the '4th member' Morgan does, is sit at the back twiddling knobs on the synth? It's basically what a guy did backstage before, but they have him there doing it now. Watch some of the live videos on the MTV overdrive of the most recent Muse gig at Sheperds Bush Empire. You can clearly see that Morgan is just stood there twiddling knobs on the synths, also does some backing on the keyboard. He's not really a part of the set at all, he's just hidden at the back behind dom on the drums.

After listening to the album pretty much constantly for a month now, i've found that Map of the Problematique is a bloody ace song i think. Also, that some of the songs such as Assasin and Exo Politics which at first totally wowed me, now don't really. They're a bit samey, although still good, just not as good as i first thought.

Oh also, the japaneese bonus track titled 'Glorious', which was known as DES in the live bootlegs before the album was released, is an absolute stunner. Can't believe they didn't put it on the actual album, really great song :(

Well they didn't put futurism on OoS (Only in japan was it an extra track) because they couldnt pull it off live, so maybe its for the same reason?

Shame... futurism is an excellent song.

It's been played live before, that's what i meant by the bootlegs. We've had it on bootleg for a good year and a half now, the song was played over in the USA on their campus tour. It was titled DES by the fans because it's the name of muse's technician.

So it can be pulled off live, so i don't know. Also, Absolutions bonus track 'Fury' has been played live too, and they pulled it off superbly... I duno :(

Fury's excellent imo. Dunno why Japan always gets the bonus tracks . Thank God for imports ;)

Not a clue, Muse really like playing in Japan live as well, they say they're some of the best audiences. I duno, i guess they're just lucky :(

Absolutely cracking album, love the experimentation aspect....and the queen harmonies along the way. I was somewhat taken aback when I heard the single but listened to it properly and loved it, I think I reckon this is their strongest stuff yet. Does anyone else think KoC sounds like Iron Maiden on acid?!
