8k really? wow

That includes £700 for a duff engine!

Car was £700, coilovers were £1000, 2nd engine £950, ECU £1100, diff and g'box £750 it soon adds up!

Thinking about it it was probably more than 8k :o

You could do it a lot cheaper, but I wanted to do it "right" the first time! :)

PS I havent forgotten about the mirrors for you, just been a little busy.

So, by finished, you meant nearly finished? :p :D

It will never be finished ;)

Thread revival and an update:

A few more bits arrived today that I need to fit before a track day on the 20th.

Oil temps were a little higher than I'd like on the last ring trip so I've decided to fit an Oil cooler.

Cooler, pipes and sandwich plate:

Oil cooler mounted in front of intercooler

Sandwich plate fitted and a shorter Polo oil filter used, the original 1.8T one wouldn't go on due to the cross member being in the way.

Pipes supplied in the kit weren't long enough so off to get some longer ones made up.

I've just fitted some Toyo R888s and was worried about oil starvation around corners so I ordered a baffled sump from Jabbasport.

These gates only open one way and keep the oil around the pick up during cornering

More to follow later after getting some pipes made up and getting some sealant for the sump.

The "To do List" is as follows

Oil cooler
Sump
Brake pads
Rear wheel bearings
Service it
Clean it!!

Mate you got any plans of another ring trip i need another ride, i wana see what its like now with the new bits and remap, awesome job.

Should be over late August or early September, I'll let you know.

Got some pipes made up, oil cooler now finished

I think I'll spray it black, silver stands out too much compared to the rest of the car!

Just taken it for a quick test drive, oil temps are about 10-15 degrees lower. Cruising it now sits at about 86-90 compared to 98-104 before. Will be interesting to see how high they will get on track.

I agree spray it black, this is an awesome thread!

Would you say that the air filter you have on is much better than the standard box (noise/performance)? Have you got a cold feed up to it?

....and last but not least how much did it cost :D

It's never had a standard airbox. It has a cold air feed from the front bumper where the fog light used to be.

Cost no idea, but it was worth every penny :D (see update below)

Did an open pit lane day at Anglesey yesterday, had so much fun. It seemed to suprise a lot of cars that just wouldnt pull to the side when I caught them up. One guy in the carpark asked what I had under the bonnet as he couldn't understand why the E46 M3 wasnt pulling away from me lap after lap!

It's awesome to drive on track, so planted and goes round corners very very well, it was cornering faster than most of the Elises there.

New oil cooler is working very well, didn't see higher than 108 degrees C even after staying out on track for 40 minutes! :D I also fitted a single headlamp grill to aid cooling.

Feredo DS2500 brake pads were awesome, didnt fade once. Front disks will need replacing as they were a bit grumbly by the end.

Few pictures:

That Atom just wouldnt move to the side when I caught him!

Project thread now re opened, expect a roll cage and a few choice mods soon!
