My Log Burner...

I would say these are best woodburners/multifuel on the market.

Noted - if we can buy the house we like the most we'd want to install a burner. I've got a catalogue from Clearview already, though we'd visit their showroom in Whitchurch.

Have a small one in the recent build I'm in the progress of buying and not sure I get it to be honest. Unless in all day just seems like I would rather stick the central heating on to warm all the rooms within a short amount of time. Have to keep it fed with wood and if it goes out you have to clean it out.People these days spend less time in the living room where these are usually located too?
Will definitely give it a try but think mine will end up mostly a talking point for visitors "oh look, they have a wood burner" :)

Stupid question - how do you remove a wood burner?

We had ours installed last year and want to get it out to give the bricks behind a good clean, but I can't work out how to disconnect it!

If you are playing by the rules then any removal would need to be followed by the installation being signed off again by Hetas/Building control upon re-installation.

Just a quickie - is getting it signed off by HETAS a must do thing? We aren't planning on moving anytime soon and i don't really want to have to make the hearth any bigger than it currently is as its probs 10cm too short.

Hypothetically speaking Can I not just get it fitted and not say anything? And then if/when we do,e to sell in ten years time or whatever just remove the burner?

you can, the only issue i can see is that if anything happened (fire or whatnot) and the insurance company found that to be the cause then i guess it would invalidate the insurance. but in reality its not likely to be an issue.

That's what I was hoping for really. My friend said it may be an issue if you come to sell but we'll probably just remove the burner it if that's the case. Really don't want to have to make the hearth any bigger!

we were buying a place recently with a wood burning stove and all that the building survey said was "may not comply with current regulations, get xxx to check". the electric part and the plumbing said the same also.

surveyors arent plumbers/electricians or hetas approved so they just cover their own back.

Prepped 2x openings last year.

Where is the best (cheapest) place to buy burners online? Looking at a clearview 500.

Will get a local firm to line\fit.

Handy to know thanks.

Anyone know much about Fireglow log burners?

Think this one looks pretty nifty and is DEFRA approved/exempt - http://www.fireglowstoves.co.uk/product/0/0/186/st1-stove.htm

Ooh that looks nice!

Similar to the kinda thing I'll be looking for. Be sure to give a review once it's in. Pics too!

Cheers - I will :) - probably do a mini install log (no pun intended ;) ) too :D

Carpet up on the 30th, gas capped and existing fire removed on the 2nd - builder "at some point" between the 2nd and 13th and the burner in the 17th

Going to take the opportunity of the room being clear and the carpet up to full re-decorate the room too (the wall the burner is going in will be fully skimmed as well)

Should be quite a transformation :)

Log store is here and built, axe waiting to be swung in anger - log delivery Wednesday and collected 4 bags of fir cones (for kindling) in the local forest earlier :D

I doubt very much if you will get a Clearview much cheaper online -- Don't let that put you off - Probably best stove out there - you won't be disappointed.:)

Ordered my first ever log burner today. CANNOT WAIT, I'M FREEZING.

Being fitted Feb 9th. Going to be a long old wait. We had to remove 4 radiators from a room we're renovating, so the house feels permanently cold. Did I say I'm freezing?!?
