But what did they say about the satisfaction guarantee, don't mention the dead pixels just say you not happy with the product and want a refund.

When i mentioned the satisfaction guarentee the woman i spoke to pretty much shrugged it off and asked me about my dell order number, when she couldnt find that she looked up ocuk's details and said that she couldnt find my exact monitor cause they had ordered many in bulk recently, at this point i mentioned that i was unhappy with the monitor and wanted a replacement due to the pixels and thats when she said that if tech support wouldnt do it due to the number of pixels ( 1 ) the only other way she could do it was via the damaged system route as a business customer and as i had not reported the problem within 7 days of reciept i couldnt do that so i would need to speak to the store i bought it from...

The thing about a refund is that i purchased it from ocuk so i dont think dell would refund me my money :) when ocuk have it, but dell would only do a swap out and they dont seem to be very willing as its not within the limitations.

Can only hope it goes pop i spose and send it back that way unless ocuk support can suggest something ;) but i am wondering if this comes under the sale of goods act as it being of an unsatisfactory standard as its brand new and developed this faulty pixel within 10 days.

Gonna wait for a reply to my webnotes as i've been tryin to call tech support at ocuk since 9:30ish and keep getting phone ringing then going to engaged tone after a while.

HOORAH!! :)

To be honesty in the future I would just use webnote, trying to call them is just frustrating.

My second 2405FPW is due for delivery on 11 Nov.

This makes interesting reading. Link provided at end of the excerpt. The length of the period is not set in stone, its flexable and many suppliers/manufactures will settle before reaching the small clams court for the simple reas they do not want a rulling set by the law courts.

I know that some manufacurers say they require more than 1 dead pixel, but that is not good enough when spending this amount of money. Look through the rulings. [Free from defects, for a reasonable time] 6 years is considered reasonable for electrical goods not 6 days.

Subject: Sale of Goods Act, Faulty Goods.

Relevant or Related Legislation: Sale of Goods Act 1979. Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982. Sale and Supply of Goods Act 1994. The Sale and Supply of Goods to Consumers Regulations 2002.

Key Facts:

• Wherever goods are bought they must "conform to contract". This means they must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality (i.e. not inherently faulty at the time of sale).

• Goods are of satisfactory quality if they reach the standard that a reasonable person would regard as satisfactory, taking into account the price and any description.

• Aspects of quality include fitness for purpose, freedom from minor defects, appearance and finish, durability and safety.

• It is the seller, not the manufacturer, who is responsible if goods do not conform to contract.

• If goods do not conform to contract at the time of sale, purchasers can request their money back "within a reasonable time". (This is not defined and will depend on circumstances)

• For up to six years after purchase (five years from discovery in Scotland) purchasers can demand damages (which a court would equate to the cost of a repair or replacement).

• A purchaser who is a consumer, i.e. is not buying in the course of a business, can alternatively request a repair or replacement.

• If repair and replacement are not possible or too costly, then the consumer can seek a partial refund, if they have had some benefit from the good, or a full refund if the fault/s have meant they have enjoyed no benefit

• In general, the onus is on all purchasers to prove the goods did not conform to contract (e.g. was inherently faulty) and should have reasonably lasted until this point in time (i.e. perishable goods do not last for six years).

• If a consumer chooses to request a repair or replacement, then for the first six months after purchase it will be for the retailer to prove the goods did conform to contract (e.g. were not inherently faulty)

• After six months and until the end of the six years, it is for the consumer to prove the lack of conformity.

When does this OcUK special offer end on the 2405FPW? I've only just noticed it and having now decided to wait until later on for Xbox 360, the money's going on this monitor.

Hi all, 1st post here ever!!!

Just picked one of these up yesterday after reading all your very helpful posts (had to wait until now to post while awaiting approval).

Looks amazing. Is it just me or do they not come with the power supply lead?

Mine didn't have a power cable in the Dell box but I did fine one in the outer box which I assume OCUK added. It really is an awesome monitor, so pleased with it :)

Yes, I have loads lying about, just thought it was odd. We ordered 2 20" versions at work and they both came with a power lead albeit in a seperate box....

Should I TRY and contact OC and ask if they forgot to give me one? Seems odd....

I never got an "outer box" just the Dell one all sealed up.....the plot thickens....

ps. Chiribo. I tried that route and they just quoted me £900 odd pounds for one PLUS shipping! I thought I'd pocket the saving and popped over to OC as I'm not far. :)

They had a special offer a week or so ago which made is slightly cheaper, anywhom, the extra box you people are mentioning is provided by Dell, as I got 2 boxes myself when I got it from them, the simple reason for this must be that they just produce the panels to be consumed anywhere in the world and therefore don't include the power lead with the actual monitor :) just add a seperate box when you end up shiping the product to a particular country :)

And it is a regular kettle lead :)

Wow!! Now that was a bargain, especially as they are now back to offering it to us all for a bargain £942.35......but I guess they do throw in the shipping for that. LOL!!

I found it in "other places" for a few quid less but once shipping was added OCUK were simply the cheapest as I could fetch it in my lunchbreak :)

Power lead thing. I have email-thingy'd OCUK and will see if they will send me one out sometime soon...lovely jubbly.
