I cant seem to get mine running at 80mhz, 60 is the only option I get...how about everyone else...im also getting mouse lag, its not fast as my old dell 19" crt :-( i now suck at cod2

Took me a month too get back into CS when i first switched too a TFT. If your talking about online gaming and your serious about it, i doubt this is the kinda of monitor you want too be playing on anyway...

so far, ive noticed no such "delay".

Watching movies and playing games so far, the sound seems to be rightly timed with the video.
Unless i have an audio delay aswell.

Maybe i'll try FEAR multiplayer later and see if its noticable on that.
HL2 and FarCry seem fine, and great in wide :D

So i guess you are very pleased with it then? I arent too bothered if there is delay as i dont play that many FPS anymore. Wanting it more for MMORPG, RTS and of course my 3d work :D

Yeah!

You'll love it!!

I'll probs try Warhammer 40k when i get home, and see how it is on the big screen. :)

WoW looks very good aswell, if thats the sort of MMO you play :)

Stil havent managed BF2 on it yet tho, but i may need to reinstall it. =/

It's wierd, I didn't 'notice' the delay, just suddenly got really crap at FPS games :)

So I stopped playing FPS games, the monitors that good :P

I have to say -prior to purchasing one of these babies, i read through most of this thread, and there were a lot of in depth discussions on the shortcomings of this monitor in relation to all sorts of scenarios, and i'm happy to say that for my usages none of them apply and so i can join in raving positively about this monitor :D

The three things that worried me about buying a TFT (and spending so much on this one) were:
1) dead pixels
2) bad movie playback
3) blur whilst scrolling (yes i scroll that much, and what of it :p)

I don't play games much but in regards to my main usage which is programming/office/movies, the experience with the monitor has felt natural, colours look as they should, and writing is nice and crisp, and my eyes don't burn (now that i've turned the brightness down!)

the only note to make here is on such a large screen most Divx's don't look as good as they do on a smaller ones, but i suppose that all comes down to software compression yadda yadda, at which point you just put in the original DVD you own so long as its not on lend ;)

I dont find any problems when scrolling,
The only problem i have is when dragging windows left or right, the text goes a bit blury depending on how fast you drag it. Not as noticable up and down.

No biggie tho

now that you mention it i see it, damn you! :p

it's all good though - there isn't a situation in which i'd be dragging a window and reading the contents of it at the same time :D

Also, regarding the nView gridlines software i saw mentioned earlier on in the thread, i saw no solution mentioned for ATI users... after some scouring i found this site on the net:

http://www.realtimesoft.com/multimon/forum/messages.asp?Topic=2741&tmpl=UltraMon

the forum is a discussion of how to use a provided add on script for a program called ultramon to help give functionality like gridlines.

i wanted that software really badly, and i managed to get it to work, and now i notice i'm never really going to use it :|

Well here's a pic of mine.

Chadd,

You need a proper desk mate. :P

indeed, lol

hopefully getting my room completly changed, desk, walls, floor and stuff.
just saving once again. lol

could do with a corner desk, but not sure if they will house my new screen. lol :P

Its not a bad desk, about the same size as mine desktop area wise, and I've got my 2405FPW and Sony 21" CRT along with my Coolermaster Black Widow case and Zalman Reserator on mine, not to mention my TMCougar HOTAS or CH Yoke when I'm simming! but I guess your desk could do with sanding and varnishing Chadd :)

Hi Chadd,

I think we both ordered our 2405's at the same time. I am also very impressed so far with mine.

This is a picture taking of mine on a corner desk. I got this desk from a well known PC store about two years ago, last time I looked they had this desk on special offer.

I'm actually really happy about the size of this monitor, I actually expected it to be a bit bigger and look out of place compared to the rest of the desk etc. I think it fits in very nicely indeed !

Nice desk, although doesnt the hight from the keyboard to the monitor mean that you are looking up at the screen, rather than straight on?
As your arms should b about level from your elbows when typing. =/

lol, otherwise its all good =]

No I have extended my neck to compensate :P

Seriously though it does take some getting used to, but im fine with it now. Problem is at work I have a dual 17" TFT setup which is all at the same height as keyboard etc. so im readjusting every day. Although I think the photos I have taken make it look out of scale, just looked back at them and it does look like the keyboard is about 6 foot below the monitor !

Anyway these monitors are so nice ! Just spent some time calibrating it and looking through my digital camera photo collection, amazing ! never knew my camera was taken photos this well !!!

What aquarium screensaver is that Morster? Been meaning to ask about this for the 2405.

I used to run what I thought was a good Aquarium screensaver, and thought it would look nice on the Dell 2405, the few trial ones I've tried so far don't look so good on this monitor as I thought they would, or don't support widescreen/1920/1200 ?

OcUK advertise the fact that the 2405fpw comes with a 4 year NBD Onsite exchange warranty. This is great, but do I need to do anything to initiate this warranty or is just proof or purchase and the serial no. of the 2405fwp enough in case I ever need to contact Dell and/or OcUK ?
