My new Dell 2405FPW - pictures & first impressions

Why would you want it to run at 80Hz  - its a LCD not a CRT so refresh rate doesnt work the same - 60Hz is standard across all LCDs, some can do 75Hz, but youll probably have to force that - unsure if there is a real postive difference other than helping vsync fractions...

Might want to do some googling about the difference - might take some time to get used to it - unsure about the mouse lag and how the monitor would affect that other than you having to run at higher GFX settings to suit its size...

Thanks for the heads up on the card reader guys, as you can see I'm not a big user of Digital camera's yet.

Elite. I can only get max of 60 hertz as well, this is quite normal for an LCD and the spec for this Dell 2405, as I understand ... LCD's don't work like CRT's where 60 hertz would be hopeless.

Mouse lag? I dunno? I've heard some reasonable criticism of some game lag with the Dell, but I cant see it, but then again I just play occasional games, my main use is general computing, FS2004 and DVD playback that would never suffer from lag anyway.

Maybe the Dell 2405 aint for you? reading between the lines in this thread, you must be a pretty hardcore gamer to notice the lag though? But fair comment.

you are not useing the usb ports on the screen are you? dont use em for mouse and keyboard, keep thos connected to the main pc. the usb ports on the screen are uber laggy

Received mine at 10:00 today!

Although i was at work, someone was home to accept delivery :D

This monitor is UBER!!

NO DEAD PIXELS!! :D
NO BACKLIGHT BLEED
This screen is bloomin bright aswell. lol
might need to mess about with the gfx card. hehe

Tested HL2 and FarCry on it so far... and its bloody great!! :)
EDIT: Tested WoW and it looks brill!

Films look bloody great aswell! Tried Matrix 3 and that bloody amazing, even sitting pretty close. (quite big black horizontal borders on that tho)

Then tried Bruce Almighty, and although it filled the screen more (very slight border) the quality wasnt as good sitting at the desk. Yet a metre away it look bloody sweet (2 metres even better).

All i can say is that im bloomin chuffed!
Thanks to everyone who recommended this monitor to me!
Worth the price imo.

Never going back to CRT ;)

Pics comming soon. Maybe tomorrow =P

afraid that's not really a family friendly link. sorry

this is the best site around for wallpapers of women and cars, even 1920x1200. Top website.

for the brightness I am using the normal Colour settings, not the user settings, and have used drivers to add some better contrast

Could anyone please link me to this monitors driver page please?
Its not important, id just like it to be recognised in display.
I think its been posted before.

Been look for ages, these work arent too good.
Takes ages to open a page. :(

Cheers

The driver CD I got was fine - XP picked up the driver/image file straight away - unsure why ppl are having so many problems - arent Dell supplying the CD or has it changed since I got mine (April/May)...

Sooooo tempted to buy one at the moment, but the lag issue on the screen is whats stopping me.

Whatever happened to that link of the guy who had his 2405 and a CRT hooked up to his PC showing the response delay of the 2405?

thats why mines for sale after 3 days :(

I ordered mine at last after debating for 3 month. But using a 17" monitor by itself for 3DSmax has driven me insane so i had too do it. Can wait for extra space :) Better be good for £650 :D
