OcUK advertise the fact that the 2405fpw comes with a 4 year NBD Onsite exchange warranty. This is great, but do I need to do anything to initiate this warranty or is just proof or purchase and the serial no. of the 2405fwp enough in case I ever need to contact Dell and/or OcUK ?

only thing is keep the box, i had to had my 2001fp replaced before i had the 2405 and dell needed the serial number on the box

Recieved mine this morning and it simply amazing coming from a 17" TFT and i am loving the quality so far. Not really tried any games so far as i am busy setting new system up. A big thankyou too this thread ass it finally convinced me on this purchase :D

this screensaver works in native 1920x1200 mode and all other WS/4:3 modes

I have the registered version, but you can find the trial/demo versions here

the ones marked with MD in the filename are for multi/dual displays. (although only for clone mode unfortunately)

The Goldfish one is very good on here as well.

Thanks very much. I'm running it now and it looks fantastic on this monitor :)

there should be usb connector in the box, the normal flat shaped end goes into the pc, the squarish end goes into the monitor at the back. windows should ping and say usb hub detected and under my comp you shoulkd have nice row of removable drive icons these are for sd card, memory stick slots.

Hey...

Ok, so its approaching 3AM when I make this post... soooo if any of these questions have been asked before, feel free to poke me in the eye.

I have a 19" CRT at the moment, and thinking that maybe the 2405 is the cheapest option for my upgrade, a 20" screen just seems to small (considers I use a 28" CRT TV) but a 24" TFT is only about 2" or so smaller in terms of visible size than a 28". Also, with all the connections I am thinking this will be good.

Basically though, I was thinking of running games like CS on the CRT, and using the dell for a "everything else" screen. In other words, the CRT is for pallettes in photoshop, the Dell the main image... I will use it to watch the odd movie...

I will also link it to a 360 using a offical VGA cable. I have heard mixed oppions about the quaility though, some people report more "jaggies" with the 360 than a HD TV. I was thinking of a samsung 23 or 26", but the dell seems to be a better deal for me in terms of what it can do.

I was thinking of linking:

PC via DVI, 360 VGA, composite, probablly gamecube, component, PS2, s-video (sod knows)

I understand that the 2407 is being released mid febuary/march. Does anyone know for certain if dell are going to keep the same connections? I understand they are adding a HDMI port to the 2407 though.

So basically, question is. Does the 360 look great with the 2405 (if someone has a HD tv too, does the 2405 look about the same... or a lot worse?).

*EDIT* I just read thru that again after I posted, and am sorry if that came out completely weird sounding.. I need sleep *heads to bed*

ive only got 2 games on the x360 and imho both pgr3 and condemed look great on the 2405 http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17505087&highlight=pgr3 all the pics i posted there are on dell 2405 only things ive done is down sized and cropped the pics so the frame of the monitor dont show. im still waiting on my vga cable to be delivered but im more than happy with it over component yes there is slight jaggies but not noticable unless you play with your nose thouchign the screen.

and id suggest using both ps2 and game cube over component as well

grab of fight nite round 3 demo.

Im currently using my Xbox360+PGR3 over component on my 2405, set at 1080i and its excellent, I have a 50" Sony HDTV and I would say that the quality is about equal to that, I will be getting a 3007 and a 2407 and when I do I will try and get some kind of review together.

Thanks Yaka and Dreeder.

I will be using my 360 over VGA... I assume there will be no difference really? have heard that you get the tinniest borders because it is 16:10 rather than 16:9. I will probablly hook my cube using composite (I dont really play it that much truthfully) and PS2 via component. :)

yes iit will have borders @ 1080i if arnt fussy then you can select fill mode.

over vga peeps have some complaints but people with proper LCD tvs with vga ports have had similar complaints so its not the 2405 that at fualt but somat to do with the x360 it self

My friend got his a few weeks ago and was kind enough let me play with it for a day! :D Totally blow away by the size of the thing (how many times has that been said in this thread?! lol) and couldn't believe how bright it was. I downloaded some HD video from Microsoft...Amazing!!

However there is one thing I noticed... When I stretched the desktop background from my CRT to the 2405 there was very noticeably gradient banding so to investigate I created a gradient in Photoshop which looked smooth on my CRT however when dragged across to the Dell it looked, frankly, awful! So is gradient banding normal with this monitor is it just a LCD thing?

It wasn't bad enough for me to stop wanting one though! :p

Just thought i'd add, My monitor does NOT have ANY backlight bleed after all (as far as i can tell, lol) , i realised a couple of days after posting my first thoughts, but forgot to mention :p

I think it must have been light shining in from the hall way. lol

Still chuffed. :D
