N95 Release

Got a 2gb microsd card today in the post, was originally going to get the 4gb one but they, the place i bought it from doesnt know when they will be getting them in and also i have heard that it slows the phone down pretty badly.

Got it for a nice price of £20 and i thought the sony M2 cards were tiny, this one is stupidly small. Good thing it comes with the adaptor so that you can plus it into a card reader without having to worry about it getting stuck:p.

One thing i have noticed is that if i send a file over bluetooth, the n95 gets it but when it goes to save it..it doesnt give me the option of where to save it...any ideas or is that just how it is??. Am going to transfer some mp3 files from my k800i over to the n95 later so just wanted to know if i can save them direct to the mem card.

If you install Nokia PC Suite you can browse the phone and memory card and copy of the files to where you want them.
You might be able to do it without pc suite if the software for your bluetooth card supports it.

If I just send something to the phone they just get put in the messages inbox.

You'll have to let us know how you 'make the move' from the K800 to the N95.
As in my eyes, your going from a phone with stunning battery life, to one that probably wouldnt have a quarter of it. The same move that i would possibly be doing in the future.
So any comments on how you find it would be appriciated. :).

Yeh thats where they go ie into my inbox but then when i go to save it, it doesnt give me the option to save either in the phone memory or mem card.

Havent used the Pc suite yet to transfer files but it does work with the laptop, the pc suite that is. Just used to other phones where u send something over BT then when u go to save it, it asks where you want to save it.

Noit such a big deal really tbh.

Well at the moment i have both and use both, the k800i is used more for wireless music playing ie using the mp3 player with my hbh ds970 bt headset. Strange thing is that the hbh ds970 bt headset pairs fine with my n95 but it wont let me stream music via bt altho it supports it. I can make calls and receive calls fine from the n95 to the headset but it wont stream the music...guess its not fully compatible, probably due to the fact that its an SE headset.

All in all i use the n95 a lot more than the k800i, the k800i really doesnt get much use...if anything i really got it for the camera but using the n95 camera....its just as good imho. Not really much of a difference tbh between the 2 cameras altho the n95 pics look a bit saturated but not to the extent where it bothers me much. I reckon ill probably get rid of the k800i soon or give it to my mum as she likes it a lot lol:p.

The k800i is a good phone but compared to the n95, the features dont come close. Battery life on the n95 as said earlier is pretty dire but then i keep my phone on charge anyways and it usually lasts me the day. The k800i battery is superb thats one thing for sure but i find it slightly slower menu wise/software wise compared to the n95 though...which is the one thing about this n95 that has me very impressed...other n series phones ive had in the past were cumbersome and slow.

Can you backup the text messages?

And is there a limit to the number you can store in the phone?

you can indeed. its accessible through an explorer-like interface. ive no idea what the limit is, but i've had around 150 on there with no apparently problems. ive got exactly 120 on there at the moment. i just cant be bothered to delete them :o

Thanks! As long as I don't have to purge the inbox every week....

Now to find a good deal with it...

Vodafone=Free phone, 500mins, unlimited texts, 3months free insurance, £40 worth of extras (like family pack addon) all for £40pm

Where is the cheapest people have been able to find one?

Cheapest places ive seen them go for sim free and unlocked is good ole ebay, i picked mine up from there for about £350 i think which was the cheapest one i could find. Sadly when i got it, the earpiece was fubared ie too loud and crackly. Got it fixed free of charge by the nokia service centre...only after about 30 mins of arguing with the guy lol...he finally gave in and did it for me and now its as good as gold.

got mine nearly 3 weeks ago on orange, 500 mins, 250 texts, 5mb data plus free phone for £25/month. not bad. my bill is actually £30 as i've got additional insurance (i know its a waste of money but i just havnt got round to canceling it yet).

Very impressed so far...

Far from a waste if you lose it. Although does anyone know , what the difference is between (if any) orange care and the cover you 'd get if you took out the Halifax current account platium thing. This gives you travel insurance and phone insurance i'm assuming it not as comprehensive ??
