I was in a Scania dealer last night getting a headlamp fault sorted and was wincing at their quoted £10k replacement price for a slightly tougher more complex 'box!

Epic cars though, undoubtedly.

So is it 07/08? Has any work been done on the box such as the updated software, circlips, bell housing etc? Did you check to see if it had been launched?

I'd be very surprised if it did not have the updates as they make the car so much smoother and launches better.

Good shout on the circlips upgrade, think it is a 2-4k job but is good for peace of mind and again a lot of owners had this done.

So plans for this year:


Interior overhaul:
  • Front and rear dashcams - Hidden main units with remote lenses - All cables hidden
  • Soundproofing/deadening much (most) of the interior
  • Upgrade sound system - Rip the entire bose system out and replace it with Audison and Hertz gear
  • Take apart all trim, pad and re-affix to remove all the little interior rattles.
Paint/Bodywork:
  • 3 Stage paint correction to bring the car back to new and sort all the little niggles
  • Ceramic coating
  • Alloys refurbed and sealed with C5 Wheel Armour
Tyres + Brakes:
  • Replace Pzeros with MPS4-S
  • Upgrade all discs to Alcons
  • All pads to Pagids
POWERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR:
  • Stage 1 Ecutek Tune in Feb ~70 gained HP
  • 102mm Y pipe - Remove 1 set of cats
  • K&N Large cone Air Filters (can do this at stage 2 possibly)
  • Possible but not decided - Suspension kit upgrade to deal with the cars preference to understeer
MORE POWERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR:
  • Stage 2 Ecutek Tune in October ~20 gained HP from stage 1
  • Full 102mm Exhaust
Servicing:
  • Feb and October services
Training:
  • CAT DT Training
Track days/Fun days
  • Whatever we arrange here on ocuk so far :D

A lot of this comes from deciding im going to be keeping this a lot longer than thought (was planning on 2 years, but having had it for a year im not bored of it yet (by now on most other cars I was already looking to sell)). So don't mind putting sensible money into the car as such.

The one I am looking forward to will be the CAT DT training, I know the GTR flatters drivers, and am under no illusion it does for me also, however after speaking to other GTR drivers all have said this course really let them get a feel for just how far the car can be pushed before it bites back, so hopefully will be a worthwhile couple of days.

Anyway today the new front discs and pads arrived and they are monstrous. Obviously you can see them on your car, but when you have them in your hands, you really appreciate the scale and weight of these things.
