NEARLY 2 WEEKS WAITING: Nissan GT-R is finally mine!

What a guy! :D

I guess you two don't know each other in real life? If so, even more of a guy! :D

How generous :)

considered a car swap but insurance implications would be a pain so I'm probably nipping over to his tmoz for him to show me round the car and get to know them a bit better

So its coming up to the first year of ownership, so thought I would share the breakdown of the main costs.

  • Servicing October: £845.44
  • Servicing Feb: £172.66
  • Piston clip upgrade + mag kit upgrade: £299.47
  • Tyres (2 rears and a set of 4): £1212.98
  • New Brakes and Discs: £1149.00
  • Petrol (approx £50 a week when evened out over winter): £2600
  • Insurance: £855.02
  • Tax: £540.75

Total: £7,675.32
Monthly: £639.61
Weekly: £159.90

Excluding Petrol as YMMV

Total: £5075.32
Monthly: £422.94

Which, given some big things there, I would imagine next year to be something like this:

Right! New tyres done!

Thoughts? Well I gave them 10 miles or so scrub the worst of the release agents off before getting a bit frisky for 20 more miles. This was coming off my pzeros with 1.8mm of tread left all around.

So far, incredibly impressed. A definite improvement in all aspects, grip is incredible, theres a bit of road/hill I could easily turn into and spin the tyres up on pzeros when flooring it, when I did this with the MPS4S they hooked up instantly and launched me up the road!

Cornering and feedback is exactly as expected, though until they are scrubbed in for 100 or so miles I won't be pushing my luck there.

Slightly, but only marginally, noisier then the pzeros.

Cost for all 4, £816 fitted.

I felt so with my M5, these are absoloutely epic though but some of the servicing costs and other bits put me off wish I'd had the balls to try one :p

Edit : like Will said

Really? I get in the F10, start it up in granny mode and it feels literally no different to my old 530d as a car goes. Even pushing on in Hero mode the car feels fast but never makes you want to back off because it's unwieldily.

Same when I moved from my 1.6mm Pzero to the MPSS on the M5. The difference was just astounding but then some of that has to be down to the fact the PZs were so low on tread. Oddly, I find the MPSS quieter, my Android Decibel Meter app confirms. :)

Not just tread but also effect of fresh rubber. As tyres age the rubber becomes less soft/grippy.

But thats not taking away from how amazing MPSS are, I change out my Pzero with 3-4mm on rear and 5-6mm on front, the difference it made was incredible, particular in cold/wet conditions moving to MPSS.

I am hoping to make the same purchase this week as 295/35/20 PS4s just came into stock at Blackcircles, so am gonna go with 285/35/20 in the front and a 295/35/20 in the back. :)

Do you want me to get you a quote from my guy Gibbo? He was 250quid cheaper than blackcircles.

Yes please:

2x 285/35/20 (same as yours I think)
2x 295/35/20 (Ferrari approved spec)

Both are labelled as PS4s from Michelin, just the bigger ones are a K1 tyre, so I believe they have less tread from the start as they are 2.6lb lighter, unfortunately there is no regular 295/35/20, but do please ask him to double check as Michelin only just released those Ferrari ones in last week or so, as such it does seem more sizes are coming which were not in the original press release.

Has to be 35 profile though, I do not want any 30 profile tyre, though if they do a 305/30/20 in PS4 or PS4s I might be willing to try.

Also and sorry for this, but ask him if they do PS4 (none S) in 295/35/20 with Porsche N-Spec approval. :)

Kindai, I don't suppose you could check for me?(not sure if PS4 are in this size yet)
2 x fronts: 265/35R20 in PS4 or MPSS.

Thanks

No problem, hes going to get back to me first thing tomorrow with all the prices.

The only one he thinks there may be an issue with is the N1 specs Gibbo asked for.

NO, N1, N2 all same, they don't technically exist yet, so I too would expect him to have an issue.

But 295/35/20 K1 does exist and 285/35/20 exist as you got it on your car. :p
