NEARLY 2 YEARS WAITING: New Mustang GT PP is finally mine!

Really hope GM decide to go global like Ford have done, would be epic having the other great player selling RHD cars too because Ford have proven the demand in RHD is huge, OK the Mustang is a much bigger icon than the Camaro or Corvette and more affordable, but still if I could get a RHD Corvette I'd buy one tomorrow, the Camaro I'd need some convincing but judging by the video it looks an awesome driving kit, though the noise and interior looks rather underwhelming.

My thoughts for years as well, when I was car shopping I looked at a Corvette C6, amazing car, sounded fantastic, drove scary! but just couldnt get over the LHD.

Haha! Sorry buddy. It's a great machine, and it's numbers are brilliant. But i would prefer more character, shout and ridiculousness. Each to their own and all.

I don't think we should dis-respect the GTR it was doing practically these numbers 5 years ago, though of course pretty much every car manufacturer on the planet says they lied haha with Porsche going out of there way to prove it. But that is another topic!

Still the GTR is a good car and no offence to Kindai as his car is lovely but the GTR does little for me because I found to actually be entertained in one I had to drive it so bloody quick it then became seriously dangerous. For me a GTR only makes me grin when I am pushing it beyond 90% of its ability at which time your going insanely quick that is dangerous for you, the car and others. This for me is the GTR's weakness, do not mistake this for me saying it is lacking soul or is like playing playstation, only idiots who never drove one say such things, because when you push a GTR it is very much an involving piece of work. But at lower speeds, well it is just boring, sorry to say.

I like a car that is entertaining even within the speed limit but when push can actually rival a GTR for outright pace and there are quite a few cars on the market which do achieve this fate whilst also having considerably lower running cost.

I consider myself an average skilled driver, well maybe a tad better but I am certainly nowhere near pro level, but I feel because of this to pedal a GTR at a speed where I feel challenged I need to go extremely quick. Whereas say in the Mustang, M3 or 911 I could drive a stretch of road in the dry at same pace as I could a GTR, the difference is I need to drive at full speed in the GTR to feel excited, challenged, entertained, whereas in the other cars I can drive well below their limits and not feel the need to drive quicker because well I am personally entertained.

I just find the GTR gives me well, less options if that makes sense. But they are great cars and hold money very well because Nissan really helped residuals by increasing the price each year. :)

I ordered a mustang but ended up cancelling after reading all the mods you need to do to get it anywhere near where i would want it. Had discounted getting another Camaro because of the LHD but went for a test drive and fell for it. Mine is built and waiting to get on a boat. My Mustang order wouldnt have been till maybe March but at this rate I might have an early V8 christmas present.

I absolutely love the look of the 6th gen camaro, but its not for everyone.

Nice, but if I was gonna go through the hassle of importing and LHD I'd of got a Vette or GT 350. :)

Problem is, the Camaro is now a genuinely better car than the 'vette. And so, to be honest, is nearly every other USDM performance car - even the heavyweight Mopar Hellcats are easier to drive fast.

Not an import, UK supplied and full warranty etc.
£40k was my spending limit at this point.

I have 2 kids so anything with no rear seats not really an option. It was a straight up choice between a Mustang or Camaro and for the price the Camaro worked out the better deal.

LHD was a put off until I'd driven both and totted up the cost of parts to get the mustang to the same level as the Camaro.

I have owned LHD in the past (a 70's camaro) so is probably less of a put off for me than most. It honestly only takes about 30 minutes to get used to.

When I do decide to start modding the Camaro can be at about 450rwhp for around £1000 in parts.

Both are really great value compared with similar powered german or japanese cars.

Where did you get the Camaro from in the UK? Is it the latest gen Camaro with new chassis thats lighter or previous generation? As 40k seems cheap for a brand new imported Camaro.

Ian Allan are the 1 remaining Chevrolet dealer in the UK.
They only sell Camaro and Corvette now.

Yes, latest 2017 model in Hyper Blue, they are £37k before options, i went for the A8 as its 0-60 under 4s.

I was told 6 months from order with a build date typically 4 months from order. Mine has been built after 2 months.

They have a couple in stock now and a couple more due in soon, but they've loaded them up with options i wasnt really bothered about so saving about £2-3k by ordering.

That 37k includes satnav, rear sensors/camera, heated cooled seats etc. so basically everything in the mustang custom pack, plus HUD

That's the colour I choose earlier with black wheels and 8 speed auto. Was near as dammit 40k but so much car for the money.

I assume it's the ZF 8 speed in these? If so good box but I'd probably still taken a manual if honest unless 0-60 is so crucial and your expecting a lot of traffic light GP's or expect to be in traffic a lot then the auto does that better.

Enjoy it they are epic handling things out the box whereas the Mustang needs work but easily sorted with 2-3k. Power wise well for me the Coyote is simply a more fun engine due to its high revving ability.

You will have a far more unique car though as Mustangs have sold very well now you best just hope GM don't announce global launch soon. ;)

The 8 speed is a GM design, not made by ZF, but it is incredibly good in full auto mode. Its not quite as quick as something like a PDK in manual mode.

The manual box was very nice, but with it being a LHD I wasnt sure on wanting to get used to it. The half second faster 0-60 is just a bonus.

I hope they do bring out a RHD 10 speed, i would get my name on the list as soon as, with the car being so rare i dont think resale value will be affected all that much - '16 imports having been going for around 50k for those too impatient to wait for a UK car!

The 8 speed is basically never not in its powerband and changes lightning fast, i found it much more fun than a manual 'stang. Its completely brutal with over 450lb/ft! Rev limit is at 6600rpm so its not exactly a slouch either.

They are both tons of fun however, cant really go wrong with either.

It really just came down to me preferring the look of the Camaro, everything else is probably purchase justification after the fact!
