NEARLY 2 YEARS WAITING: New Mustang GT PP is finally mine!

It should be great but for me the best GM car I ever drove was the Z06 Corvette and it was simply because of that 7l engine though now when I think back the rest of the car was a bit meh but back then it was insane. But I did thoroughly enjoy driving it! I've never really gelled with Camaro disliked my test drive and the car needed to be brilliant as I was not much for the looks so it had little hope.

My only complaint now about the Mustang is throttle response/urgency at low rpm is a bit meh but I guess the M3 with its S54 and six throttle bodies spoils me a bit. Though owners of 350 and power pack 3 upgrades are saying the GT 350 throttle body makes the throttle nice and snappy down low as it uses a stepped design. So fingers crossed it solves that and give me 500 horses at 7500rpm will make it great fun. Power comes cheap on intake side and tune, headers which cost big money.

Oh and of course in the wet it demands huge respect and can be a handful whereas as the M3 is now all of a sudden epic in the wet.

Which Camaro did you test?

What does 500bhp translate in to at the wheels for you?

American dynos I find are very optimistic but they are seeing 440-480 wheel power depending if they are running 93 or E85. In realistic terms it's more like 420 you always need to take a bit of American numbers I find. Best is 1/4 mile as that does not lie and the mods I have done the Americans are seeing 11-11.5s@120-125mph which is plenty quick enough for NA. :)

What does every one think about there mustangs happy they brought one? Going to have a look at a new 5.0 tommorw any thing i should get ford to do to the car if i do buy

American everything seems massively optimistic to me. The always seem to lay down the fastest acceleration times of any country on any car, they always seem to make American cars faster than any other car and they all run them on 4 octane petrol so **** knows how. Always odd how US does this as most of them are awful drivers if you watch their in car videos. :)

In fairness the videos I've seen of them drag racing they are very handy but they love straight lines. But in comparison I am terrible haha!

Launch is still important mate, determines your speed over the line and time down the run.

True but its not as crucial but of course get it all perfect and you will be faster for sure. Difference being a 1/4 mile is very much decided by the launch, so its possible to lose easily to slower stuff if you fluff it, whereas over a mile even if you fluff the launch you still pull it back. Plus quarter miles are fun but they only last 12-13s whereas a mile will be around 30s and be good to get into some silly speeds in a safe environment.

E85 can easily explain the extra 30 or so hp, different kettle of fish and very difficult to get hold of over here.

Those 11 runs are on E85 aswell though arent they.

You're in to some fairly pricey fuel system mods to run E85 safely?

E85 over here is special order and very expensive, not worth the hassle.

Octane 93 they are seeing 420-440 and on E85 upto 480WHP, though a couple who have also done cams are at 500+

But again it is USA dyno figures, I find there always a little higher than we see in the UK, like the E46 M3 guys over there are supposedly seeing 350WHP with a tune and air box, completely untrue.

The only true readouts over there are from Mustang dynos but guess what no one over there runs on Mustang dynos and post up on forums because the lower (accurate) numbers they give. So they run on dynos that give bigger inflated numbers.

Stick to quarter mile times, though they cannot fudge those they do tend to be rather handy at it and a lot of the time will pull weight from their cars but not mention that.

The high 10 and low 11s runs are E85 with headers, they are also on slicks/drag radials. Those on Octane 93 are around 11.2s@118-122mph and take the sticky tyre and the times are more in the region of 11.5-11.7s@120mph.

My goal is try to reach around 120mph terminal over quarter mile, currently at 113mph, the GT350 bits, lighter wheels and headers should see me there. :)

The full PP3 kit has cost me $1400 shipped, tax/duty will be around £200 on top so around £1200 and the tuning has cost me £200 so its not so bad for more or less 500BHP. The headers I am trying to sort a deal on, so am holding off as might snag a set of Kooks for a grand. :D

Yeah, stock figures on the camaro range from 390 to 420 at the wheels, I am guessing my baseline run will be closer to the lower than the higher.

The manuals are doing 12.2-12.5, the A8's 11.9's, stock.
Tune and Cai on skinnies and slicks 11.5's

The aftermarket hasnt really caught up yet, stock ported is showing better gains than aftermarket on intake. Headers are not worth the money for 10hp (stock ones are tri-y's already).

I went to look at a C max with my Wife. There was a brand new silver/black roof 5.0 Mustang sat next to the C max, I've not been able to stop thinking about it......soooooo nice! Crazy impractical with 2 small kids but getting the Wife a big car just might be the answer....

How many miles to a tank would you get? I drive to London a lot for work.

If you regularly commute from Derby to London then you'd have to get the 2.3 unless you are a complete nutcase IMO, which kinda defeats the object. :p

Those who do long distance commuting so a lot of motorways speeds 65-85mph are seeing 32-36mpg from their cars. Around town it is under 20mpg and going for a hoon is around 15mpg. So your mileage will depend on your driving.
