NEARLY 2 YEARS WAITING: New Mustang GT PP is finally mine!

That,, but also:

They already did, its a big reason why MY18 has a 20mm lower front end which was a lot to do with safety and not just from a performance aspect.

For me I do not care, I buy a car based on how it makes me feel, not because of its NCAP rating, if it was un-safe Ford would not be selling them full stop.

I don't think it would stop me from buying one, although it is pretty shocking. You'd have thought this sort of this was just par for the course.

It is shocking but check to see how a Porsche 911 or Cayman does in same test. ;)

Not worried at all, getting marked down because of technologies, I though a crash test was about when it crashes and how it holds up, not about how many buzzers, flashing things it has.

But surely you need warning lights and buzzers to let you know you've crashed :D

Have you seen some of the aventador crashes where the car literally splits in 2? That would be utterly terrifying to see if you didn't know it was designed to do that...

My point is its not a compulsory test it seems, the only Porsche listed is the Macan.

Anyway whether its 0 star or 5 star, I have no regrets and I will never buy a car based on its NCAP rating, I buy it on power, noise, soul and how it is to drive. :)

Spoken like a true petrolhead :)

Gibbo, no-one was saying you shouldn't have bought the car. I dont know where you got that idea from?

I never thought I suggested that. :)

I was stating I'd never base my purchase on NCAP reports for any car.

If when the new TVR comes out and it scores 0 but I want one, I'd still buy one is what I was getting at. :)

I wonder if that would be the same if you had previously been in a serious accident (even if not your fault). These things have a habit of not being important until they really are. :(

It's something I worry about with my two 'other' cars. Fortunately I dont drive them all that often (certainly not every day), and only really in good weather. The +8 has harnesses and a rollcage which is a start, but the Firebird only has lap belts. :(

Not sure thts the case here, sounds like the airbags could fire faster but they have prob played the safer card to reduce unintended deployment with subsequent cost of ownership. Seatbelt pretensioner and focus on anti submarine of the rear seat aswell it's just engineering rather than trinkets, guess you get what you pay for :p

Well for front driver and front passenger it looks perfectly safe to me and I am sure my older cars if put through same test would no doubt get a minus score. :D

Rear seats... Come on, aint no one really using the "rear seats" much... The Mustang doesnt have proper rear seats that can be used unless the front passengers are very short :D:D

It looks like it survives pretty well in the video, NCAP i believe these days is more influenced by features added to what it use to be. It's a point based system, your score points for including features and technologies.
Airbag inflation has been an issue with one supplier recently, perhaps its the same. The rear seat doesn't need pretentioners etc, just needs a bit work on the cushion structure or floor pan support to prevent submarining, didn't actually look to bad in the video.
Next cars will be loosing points/stars if they are not autonomous!!! The nanny state marches on.

Poor grammar on my part, wasn't suggesting rear tensioners.

Why are people commenting on how the car looks after the event? It's the G force the occupant is subject to that matters once you have cabin intrusion under control.

It is for sure, but the structure would have appeared to have limited the intrusion quite well, except rear occupant side intrusion on to a child seat shot looked the worst. Occupant in seat and belts look better than their description....... I've had worse test results
