Hi there. Firstly, I haven't had chance to use this screen first hand so far, but I can certa8inly summarise for you what I have heard from many users, as well as reviews spread across the net. The NEC is certainly a fantastic screen and igors has done a very good job of reviewing it in this thread
He is certainly in an excellent position to answer questions about it and it's performance.
From what I've seen about this screen, there are only two issues which seem to get a mention. Igors and I have discussed this in another thread and i admit these issues are not necessarily major problems, and manye people might not find them a problem. However, they do pop up a fair amount and are worth a mention.
The main draw back of the TFT itself to SOME people is the OptiClear coating. The screen is pretty reflective and to some users, this isn't desirable. Lighting conditions play a big part here, but it can make it difficult in dark scenes in movies and games particularly. Probably not an issue to you though since you don't really use the screen for these uses.
The main drawback of the panel technology being used (AS-IPS) is the movie playback. Twinkling and noise in movies is pretty bad and this is perhaps the main thing which comes up a lot in comparisons with this screen and others. Again, not an issues to some especially if you just watchf rom a distance, but worthy of noting
Anyway, i think it is a very good screen, for office use and graphics it should be perfectly good. I suppose you might be able to save a bit of money with some other models, but the only possible thing which might put you off is the reflective nature of the OptiClear coating. Maybe worth trying to see a similar screen in the flesh? I personally dont like the reflective screens, including Acer's, Sony's and NEC's efforts, but some people do prefer them. All down to taste
