- bleeding issue in which appranetly nec sorted out but no one knows how and how you can tell the model that is affected or not?

As with most TFT's, i think you will have to chance it, hope that the build quality is ok and if not you can RMA it. It's a chance you take with anything purchased online really, that perhaps it wont work properly or is a little faulty. A lot of people have bought the screen and had no problems. Remember, bad issues are often over exagerated simply because people will post about them more. There's bound to be a lot more people who dont have problems but just haven't posted about it

- power noise at standby.

again, chance it. If it's an issue NEC should let you RMA it

- reflective screen i,m looking into that by going to a competitor store and checking displays with glossy finish i dont know if its the same but it gives me an idea.

thats your best bet. Acer and Sony products are readily viewable in high street stores including laptop ranges. Get an idea of whether you like the reflective nature of the coating or not

As it stands with any industry of this type, manufacturing control process simply can't guarantee the 100% perfection of each unit produced. It's simply not possible and there are many reasons for that.

Even if they are unlucky and receive the unit with major/minor fault, they have two possible options:

- Return the unit to the e-tailer as they are covered by 7 days distance selling regulations (it's also called "cooling off" period). This may also include the possibility that they return the product simply because they are not happy with it (and reasons for this may wary to). Generally, I would recommend this path only if they are unhappy with the product.

- As monitors are essential units for the computer work, they are additionally covered by the manufacturer warranty. If the monitor is faulty on arrival, NEC will happily swap the monitor for them (free of charge). Also, as reported by other users, NEC support is really good and RMA is straightforward procedure.

In essence, I can understand that people are extremely carefully when purchasing the monitors online. It's pretty much normal. However, as explained above, they are really very well protected in case of any unfortunate event, after the purchasing decision is made. Yes, RMA can be painful sometimes ... but in majority of cases, things will turn out nicely at the end.

Additionally, not all glossy coatings are of the same type. You have X-brite, CrystalBrite, OptiClear ... maybe other types also, so essentially they are not reacting the same way. Yes, as the general guideline, visit to the shop is always worth it and he may have some sense about this things. Also, you have to be careful as the shop rooms are usually very very bright and in most cases glossy panel coating will react differently when it's surrounded by "normal" ambient light, in your home.

Just received my new NEC this morning from OCUK. It's uber :D

I haven't noticed any problems initially with it but will thoroughly test it tonight.
It looks a real quality screen.

Thanks to Baddass and any others for all their help (decided to go for this instead of the samsung in the end).

Gommsta

It will only get better mate, I still love mine after weeks of using it, never touch another CRT again :)

p.s. How do I get a little gangster pic under my name in forum? Do I have to post so many times before I get one? - excuse me if thats a stupid thing to say?

Bleed from bottom left and top right of screen. Will see if it gets better over weekend. If not its getting RMA'd. Its quite pronounced.

Have a feeling this monitor was already returned to OCUK given the packaging.

Right, just got to sell my monitor off and then ill be able to afford one of these babys.

Just to check with you guys though, are these worth the money over other 20" widescreen panels?

This monitor is the 4th replacement i've had from NEC and has been running since yesterday.

hi

thats strange, as far as i know this is very rare for this monitor and also these issues have been addressed by Nec, if you spoke a lady by the name of sarah she could have said that to ya, i think you need gibbo and igors for their opionions on this.

call em again and speak to sarah, this a number here some where on the thread for her.

hope this helps
