NEC LCD20WGX2 review *** UPDATED 25/02/06 ***

I just hope my 6800GT's have got enough power, although I think im right in saying that you dont have to play games (my main game is BF2) at the screens native res and the image scaling is quite good on the NEC's? Anyone care to back that up?
NEC image scaling is perfect, maybe the best around ... and according to users responses. So, yes, you will be just fine.

btw You have nice signature (picture) there he he ;) I think that you changed the picture a bit, so that text is moved right to cover the "naughty" bits. When I looked at the first "original" version, I was starting to wonder what is she doing with that hand  as layer of text was hiding that part and playing up with my judgement ... not to mention the first-version "upper" bits :D

Thanks for confirming about the image scaling m8 ;)

Should have my new screen turn up today - cant wait! Should be quite a difference going from a 17" crt to 20.1" WD tft! Im a tft virgin at the moment.

As for the sig, yes I had to edit it slightly to make it more 'family friendly'. :p

Well I have gotta say im well impressed with this tft screen! My desktop is so vivid with colour! WOW!

I seem to have one lazy pixel which is in the bottom right hand corner, it's not black but a small grey blob. Will this fade in time?
Cant say that I have changed many settings either, im just using the gaming profile (is this what everybody eles uses?) and have left it at that tbh. Are there any settings that people recommend to use to get the best out of this panel as im totally new to tft and dont know what to exect!

First impressions out of the box so far -10/10!!! :D

Glad u like it Scoobie it really is an awesome monitor. I had a grey pixel top right on my first one and it didnt go.

Have a look on this thread for peoples settings:

Also have a look here this is Igors review the first one to get it in Uk I think
http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/nec_20wgx2.htm

And here also lots of links to reviews on hardware sites
http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/guides/nec_20wgx2.htm

And lastly enjoy it I am still blown away by how vivid the colours are

Seems my replacement / has a very small amount of backlight bleed, and has nearly all gone after a couple of days, however i have a pixel in the very top left which changes colour when i run say dead pixel buddy, say full screen yellow changes it to yellow, but then it stays that colour on my black background, then say if a drag a window over it it changes to the colour that has touched it, but does not change automatically all the time if you get what i mean?

Any ideas?
Obviosuly it is working to a degree.... I mean it is as far in the top left as can be so im not too fussed, but is there any way to cure it?

On my first one I tried UDpixel but It didnt work I think its because of the screen coating because when I looked at it at an angle the flashing square was raised up from the pixel and not right on it like on a normal panel. I did try a light flick on it but that didnt do anything either.

Pretty bad back light bleed bottom left corner still had it for about two months. a lot of us on this thread had issues with bleed and got replacements from nec. My new one is pixel good and bleed in corner is very minimal and getting better every day marked improvement from first one.

As for other programmes for stuck pixels that was the only one I found

Have a look at this thread and scroll down a bit some good info from the main man in the know Baddass about dead pixels

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17209584

As I have said before while the opticlear is great for making colours vivid it seems to raise itself from the panel itself making things harder to try and bring stuck/lazy dead pixels to life.

Have a good search in the forum as well I do remember there has been a few threads/posts about stuck pixels and how they got them back.

Well im just going to give it benifit of the doubt for now. I have found a cool little video that you can leave playing and hopefully it gives lazy pixels a kick up the backside. Im gonna leave it running (and looping) overnight and see if it does anything.

Heres the link for it if anyone interested:

The thing with this grey blob is that it's not made up of just one pixel (as one pixel is very small) but looking at it more closely it is infact about 6 pixels forming a grey blob?
Being a TFT virgin im not sure if this is normal or not?

:)

Far from normal. It's very hard to spot single dead pixel, but your case is pretty much unique. Never heard that anyone reported something like this. Anyhow, it would be interesting to hear about your progress.

Well thats what I thought. Its only when you have a white background that it sticks out like a sore thumb. Its annoying as once you know it's there you cant help but notice it. Maybe im just really picky, but when your spending £400+ on a panel you want it to be near perfect. I will try and take a photo of it when I get home (at work at the moment) to show you what it's like.
Apart from that im totally blown away with the quality of this panel, you realise just how dull crt's look when you have had a go on one these!. :D
So if the blob does not go (and it's not looking good so far), I take it this is worthy of an RMA?
