Sorry its the same game but heres one more pic.

Truly is an immersive experience.

Just need to think about how I am going to clean the screen without scratching that nice glossy panel.

I use one of those yellow dusters, just to brush the dust away really, nothing else.... No-one puts their greasey fingers on it as they know I'll cut them off :D

@ igors

well u remmbered me from my 1st post i had a bad experience with philips and now this, i have posted some pics of what happens to the screen after some boots.
You are unlucky, no doubt :( I hope that Philips didn't have the picture shift also.

how long did u burn in yours for?

and what did u do exactly?
Can't remember ... probably 4-5 days, maybe week. I just used the monitor, no special procedure was involved :)

u think its the cable?
Maybe. Just came to my mind. When you connect your old LCD (which is working fine), are you using the same cable and port (VGA/DVI) ?

LOL, that reminded me of my wife who has this bad habit of pointing her fingers at the screen, sometimes touching it when showing her stuff on the old CRT.....I sure as hell trained her quicksmart not to do that with my new NEC :D

cheers igors and tweakinfreak on the cleaning tips.

No-one touches my screen but the dust is starting to make it look like I have a load of dead-pixels.

Will give it a clean tonight I think.

EDIT: my friends dad has a habbit of touching the screen on his TFT pointing stuff out. noooo!!

On another note, it seems nearly all NEC monitors have this high pitch buzz at the back. The funny thing is I can hear it clearer through the right ear than I can the left.

IIRC your ears do hear differently, one is better at picking out individual sounds from a large background sound range.

Hehe I hear ya, my fiancé sorta got away with it on my old CRT and I knew when she'd been web shopping with her mates as my screen looked like someone ate fish & chips off it!!

She's know not to touch the NEC screen though (said it would split the screen as its very thin stuff...lol she believed me!)....!!!!

Interestingly enough, my NEC is dead silent during normal working conditions and when in stand by mode. Generally, my room is very "noise friendly" ... no carpets, wooden blinds, wooden floor. In essence, nothing is there to absorb the noise - so I can hear even tiny source of it.

Of course, when I press my ear against the back of the monitor ... there is slight buzz, like with any electrical device with integrated DC power transformer. Personally, I think that source of the noise in stand by mode (for the people who are experiencing this) is coming probably from the DC power transformer.

LOL. True. Sometimes even training doesn't help. Such LCD/CRT screen touching reflex (may I say obsession) is stronger then anything else. Shocking. BUT, as I purchased the laptop for my wife ... my room and my monitor are suddenly not interesting that much ;) and that is always a good thing :D My NEC is in the safe zone again!

Its not noticeable 99% of the time and I can lay in bed in total silence and not hear it. Fair enough I can hear it with my ear to the back or anything under a foot from behind. The wierd thing though is I can walk into the room and hear it through my right ear then I move my head around and the noise is no more.

I would'nt even say its something I need to learn to put up with as I dont usually hear anything from it.

Hi ATi,

Gutted to hear your having problems with it mate after so long of waiting :(

Frankly, I'd RMA it or at least call Sarah/NEC ASAP and get it swapped.

Very minor backlight bleed on mine (ain't noticed it for a while, might have gone) no noise (I hate high pitched whines!) and your pictures!

You'll love it when it's sorted - we promise! :D

hello guys

thanks for your time and concern, i,m annoyed is this is my 2nd monitor and from the looks of things it may not be the case as i,m trying different bit n pieces to 100% confirm its a faulty monitor?

just a quick question about the cable of the monitor?

i think it comes with dvi-i (18 pins) my older tft has got the dvi-d (24 pins i think) would this casue a problem to you these together in the same graphic card?

also whats the difference between the DVI-I and DVI-D apart from the pins?

thanks

Mine has just started buzzing rather loudly from back.
Also getting really hot on the top after a few hours use…

The poxy thing better not go bang!
