Need for Speed: Shift 2: Unleashed

Not possible for me to teat that theory either I'm afraid. I had the same problem you described once. I left the game on the main menu for a while and the framerate dropped to about 15fps. I do have one minor problem with the game (bar being stuck of course!). The first serious accident in a race causing the screen to go grey always causes a 1 second pause in rendering. I bet it is because of the high detail setting I'm using as I get the odd slow down in rendering in some races, in particular at night.

Been trying to sort my problem out. EA gave me a few simple things to try such as disabling non Microsoft services and disabling UAC and doing a clean install but all with no effect. It's only the 2 Autopolis International Racing tracks that this happens on. Doesn't matter if I race in the Day, at Dusk or during the Night or change my car it always fails to load.

My Xfire (Eyefinity) performance still sucks, kinda holding out for patches/drivers to update to make it enjoyable rather than frustrating.

So you cured it?

No. It wasn't something that came up multiple times. It happened once, I closed the game down and restarted it and it never happened again.

Might try 1 more download but this time on a clean Windows 7 install on a mechanical HDD without SP1 just to eliminate a couple of possible causes.

Had to roll back to 270 driver due 275 causing the game to crash also sli is working for me now maxed out getting 85-115fps

Anybody here using XFire and Eyefinity, as soon as I enable XFire my framerates drops and the game become jerky/jumpy.

I've tried different drivers versions, different CAPs, Forcing AFR-Friendly through Radeon Pro and just not sure what to try next short of not enabling Xfire :(

I havn't been keeping up to date with developments in Shift2. Is this game playable from a racing sim perspective yet? Are there good mods that improve the physics? Does input lag still exist?

Well uninstalled drivers and CAP, reinstalled :-

amd_catalyst_11.5b_hotfix_8.85.6rc5_win7_may25.exe
AMD_Catalyst_11.5_CAP4.exe

Win7 (Ultimate) x64 SP1
Intel Core i7-2600K 3.40GHz
240GB OCZ Vertex 3
2x XFX ATI Radeon 6950 2048MB
Corsair HX 850W
Gigabyte P67A-UD3-B3 Intel P67 Chipset
G.Skill RipJawsX 16GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz

still horrible performance, <30 fps in game :(

It's seems to be to do with Eyefinity, if a disable that I just run on 1 screen it runs pretty well.

Looks like Crossfire is enabled according to GPU-Z:-

I'm using a 3 Display (3x1) Display group driving 3 x Dell2407FPWs, is there anything that I might have done wrong with Eyefinity, surely I should be > 30fps?

How do I change graphics settings?

Ok managed that, how do I change controller settings like sensitivity as it's unplayable with XBOX360 controller.

the first patch was supposed to fix it and it does feel great for me now.. don't feel any input lag.. im not a picky person tho :D

Slight knocks can still cause you have a major crash. I took a short clip of one where I turned a GT-R into a UFO :D

Looks like I'm done with this :)

I'm still in career, but enjoying it so far...

I got a DFGT, and thought I'd get Shift 2 to start with, as it was semi-sim and thought it would be a good place to get started for learning how to do this properly.

I'm 19, and drive frequently, however, never driven round a race track properly, nor around in a decent car xD So it makes a big difference going from that to this.

As such, I'm currently doing Career with Normal Handling with brake assist turned off and steering assist turned on. If I turn steering assist off at the moment the cars won't stop spinning xD

But yeah, I'm quite liking it so far. Only a couple of niggles...
1) Collision physics.. These annoy me NO END... A lot of the street circuits I really struggle on simply because I get tapped going into a hairpin and go flying off the track...
2) Drift events... Unlike the games of old where I thought it was pretty easy to drift in NFS, this is a completely different experience.. Especially with a wheel... Have tried the drift events once or twice.. But really struggle with it.

Now to be fair, I'm pretty sure the Drift issue IS my inability to do it properly xD Much like how I can't yet drive properly in Elite mode without crashing xD

I'll at some point (probably once I've completed career mode) turn elite mode on, and get a set up that's actually much more sim (elite mode, manual gears etc..) than arcadey fun (which I'm enjoying at the moment) and start using Shift 2 as a basis for how to start the learning process on Sims/driving games so I can do them properly in future :)

I must say, I do like the fact that now I've worked out the settings, I can literally change the game from arcadey to Sim with about 3/4 changes...

I like the fact that there is this variation in the game and I'm not going to get my butt kicked everytime if I don't want to...

But yeah Collision Physics are my only major niggle, a lot of the time I'm quite happy to settle for a podium finish in one of the street circuit events instead of first simply because I get hugely frustrated with not being able to go around the first corner without getting smashed into a wall...

But yeah, I've had loads of fun since I got this... Would definitely recommend it.

In the autolog can I add friends playing on a PS3 if I'm on the PC?

Sorry if it's been asked before.

Not sure what the answer is to this, but can't see there being a reason why this wouldn't theoretically be possible if the hardware is there. It's not like FPS' where being on a PC and being able to point and click gives you a substantial advantage...

PC and Xbox/PS3 gamers can all use controllers or steering wheels, so no set group would have an advantage over another..

never head of it so i don't think you can add ps3 friends to pc version of the game.. :) the game is supposed to be FULL BLOWN sim tho... not semi sim ;)
