<snip>

I can't drive the Veyron at all. I've been using Pro physics and no assists up until now and had to turn them on and I still can't get around the 'ring in one piece.

I am using a pad though. I should really get the G25 out but I can't be bothered to set it all up lol.

Pad and veyron is mad screen was grey all the time :p

The game was too much aggro for me without a wheel.

I suggest you buy one to fully enjoy this game.

Wait what? Its disgusting with the wheel too, i've only just managed to tweak it to bearable, i still need almost full lock for the slightest of turns and constantly feel the back end is trying to overtake the front even with AWD.
Then even with the dead zone on 0% there is a strange area in the wheel where little if anything happens and there is very little force feedback.

Its far from feeling real or close to any sim even forza or GT but because of the awkward steering it still hard with all the aids off.

The game play itself is nothing special, it likes it if you're clean and stick to its "racing" line but at the same time likes you to smash into everyone (more effective).
However i am slightly disturbed by the fact every car sounds like some huge V8 and spits fire out the back even when stock...

brill game, addicted already xD its ace with my wireless xbox 360 controller. couldnt be happyer! best game ive ever bought tbh!
its extreamly realistic on how real cars really do handle if u turn off all the driving aids that the car wouldnt have in real life xD 10/10 for me

I'm worried how some people can say it's nothing like real life, and others can say it is extremely realistic.
Have you driven cars in real life? Surely it should be one answer or the other!

A mate of mine is getting this on Friday so I'm going to try it out at the weekend, hopefully with my G25, I'm really hoping it has acceptable handling (ie nothing like GRID)

I've been following NFS Shift discussion for two days now in various forums and websites and so far the results are really weird and not logical. There are hardcore sim racers who play iRacing 60 hours a week who say Shift is absolutely great, there are Grid loving arcade racers who say Shift is the best game ever made - but there are also arcade loving people and iRacing players who think it's one of the worst racing games ever made when it comes to physics and driving. As I said before, I'm of the latter opinion, that the driving model is absolutely horrible, especially the tyre physics and that you can't even feel the cars while driving. There really isn't much to argue about, neither side (haters and lovers) is willing to accept a middle ground at this point. Either it's the best or the worst in a deceiving way, take your pick really :)

They just need to spend more time with it, it has a learning curve compared to other racers :)

With proper physics learning curve is to learn to drive fast. In NFS Shift, the learning curve is to get used to weird physics, as shown in your video. The car starts sliding for no reason nearly every time you turn your wheel a bit more. The slide is very controlled and doesn't really do that much, except annoy me and many others so very much we have declared this one of the worst racing games.

But I'll stop posting now, you know my opinion and as I said previously, there's no changing that nor anyone else's opinion really. Shift drives just the same 30 minutes into the game as it does 10 hours into the game. Controlled sliding for no reason.

Had a go today yeah early arrival. :)

I like it. Gfx are awesome, driving is hard and not that arcade as some thought (with driving aids off in pro mode). Cant drive very good with keyboard so might set up my momo wheel tomorrow and have a proper go. Love the sounds (duno how realistic they are but sounds nice) and damage is visable and effects car on pro mode. :)

Cars are gorgeous tho.

I'm glad I didn't pay for this, (brother's copy). Terrible physics imo, going down a straight, see a right corner, begin slowly drifting to left side of track and BAM tires start squealing and car starts sliding all over the place.

I'm gonna stick with GRID.

Has anyone tried to tweak the controls? There are a few guides on the EA forums for the settings to use, the ones below are for the xbox, but they may work on the pc if there are similar options; (thanks to Krakatoa on EA forums)

Steering Dead Zone-15%
Accel Dead Zone-10%
Brake Dead Zone-10%
Steering sensitivity-5%
Acell Sensitivity -5%
Brake sensitivity-5%
Speed steering Sensitivity 100%
