^ Need for Speed Shift ^

my only complaint so far is the drifting challenges. i can't accelerate at all when drifting....

they better not be compulsory on the world tour event. has anybody completed that yet? i've unlocked it but i want to play tiers 3+4 first.

i dont understand the steering, i have tried the broadly accepted g25 settings but in the car the wheel wont turn more than 30º in each direction  I have 100% steering lock on and set to default 200º in the logitech profiler, help plz!

Gfx arent a patch on GRID imo and that stupid blur effect when u crash is annoying. Also, why is SPA about a car width narrower than on GRID?

There is now a 2nd fix for the sensitive steering/oversteer problem this game exhibits in its default settings. And let me tell you it is a NIGHT and DAY difference.
Please use 2nd fix along with the original thread suggestions on turning down sensitivity in the control options.

I have posted the original sensitivity config here:

Steering Dead Zone-15%
Accel Dead Zone-10%
Brake Dead Zone-10%
Steering sensitivity-5%
Acell Sensitivity -5%
Brake sensitivity-5%
Speed steering Sensitivity 100%

On to the 2nd fix:

At the main menu enter CAR GARAGE----> TUNING, press 'Y' to enter quick tuning mode.
Under the heading 'balance' move the slider all the way to OVERSTEER. That's right oversteer. Apparently the developer labeled this slider wrong or its a glitch. Turning the slider to oversteer will actually add understeer.

Now go drive. as you can see the cars are now more comparible to the feeling of Forza2 and RacePro. It may not be as good but it is now close!

anyone tried that ?

Errr I just played the demo, liked it, went into town, bought game, came home, installed and it refuses to run. Just says 'Need for speed shift has stopped working' when I double click the exe

Anyone else had this?

Fox start it from GAMES.

So what times are we doing then around brands hatch gp? i just did a 1:33.2 in a standard Nissan GT-R R35 and my best is a 1:27 with my modified Porsche 911 GT3 RS.

Sadly you cant do this in the demo so the demo remains utterly unplayable

I am playing this currently. Its a very decent game. Not as good as GRID imo.

Is anyone else experience the wierd microstutter effect, similar to prostreet, annoying as hell.

I've been playing some more and tried the rear hover cam view instead and whilst doing that it seemed to me that wheen you steer, you aren't steering via the front wheels like you should do, it seems to be more like its twisting/spinning the car on a point in the centre of the car. Like if you steer right, rather than the front of the car moving right and the back staying where it was and then following, the front moves to the right slightly and the back moves left slightly too but not in a natural oversteer feeling way.

I agree with that, I think GRID's graphics are very significantly better, AND it runs a lot smoother as well (for me). I am honestly confused by the people raving about Shift's graphics  Very ordinary by today's standards IMO.

theres a lot more detail than Grid but unfortunatly the game dosn`t run smooth enough for me, average of 17 fps while racing unless the road ahead is clear of cars then its about 20 fps, and this dosnt improve no matter what settings are applied in game, and thats with crossfire on 4850`s just dosnt feel smooth because of this and im in the hope it will get fixed soon by ea or ati, oh and then theres the xbox controller is real bad or its the game it seems to be all or nothing if you know what i mean, im thinkin its the game as it works perfect on any other game i use it for

i get 25-30 fps solidly on a 7900GTO lol, is ATI really that bad with this game?

i take back what i said.. i dont like how the cars handle, don't really like the demo ..... whats strange is ( im using a 4850) the game runs smoother on higher graphics settings....

Demo runs fine with 4xAA and 8xAF here, didn't really bother checking the framerates with fraps but looked like 60+ all the way.

Physics and handling is verry dissapointed far too understeery but yet twitchy and nervous. Impossible to balance the car through a corner. I was really hoping EA would enter sim-racing and hopefully create a buzz around it, it seems not.

Impossible? i find the cars **** easy to drive now.

I still think Grid has much better graphics and the cars have better detail.

I did try my Xbox 360 pad which made it much easyer to handle over the keyboard, but i also got my G25 working fine with the demo and its soooo much easyer to control the cars and keep them on the track and great fun at the same time :D
