Nerds assemble! Raspberry pi close to launch date.

RS Components and element14/Premier Farnell have now informed us that they are not willing to distribute the Raspberry Pi until it has received the CE mark. While this differs from our view (as we’ve said before, we believe that the uncased Raspberry Pi is not a “finished end product”, and may be distributed on the same terms as Beagleboard and other non-CE-marked platforms), we respect their right to make that decision.

The good news is that our first 2,000 boards arrived in the UK on Monday and that we are working to get them CE marked as soon as is humanly possible...

Got pre order email from RS, link they send you is borked, cant enter the authentication code they sent you, the box doesnt allow text entry

It's bonkers to expect CE certification for a dev board when stuff like domestic microwave ovens regulary swamp the 2.4GHz band.
I have to make a choice in the morning, do I want porridge or do I want to watch something on iPad.

Do what China does, stick a slightly altered CE mark on everything and call it a "Chinese Export" symbol or something.

Pretty bad PR for Farnell, they should have kept their big mouths shut.

Just got this from Farnell:

Think i'll wait for the mad rush to settle on these first of all before I jump on board - hopefully by that point can see some good uses for it and good bits of software!
