Netflix here we go again.

I've noticed that if you subscribe to Now TV for a couple of months and then cancel they will almost always offer you a discount to stay. I just went to cancel again and got another offer.
I haven't paid for than £1/month for NowTV entertainment over the last year, i've had it 9 of those 12 months, they throw offers out like confetti.

They used to give decent offers, nowTV but back when i used it, the quality was proper naff.

We just have proper Sky now. Cheaper than NowTV and it includes Netflix, Paramount, Peacock and Discovery+.

What?

I regularly get NOW TV entertainment and movies for £1/£2 a month.

I ditched proper SKY. It is in no way cheaper than taking all the NOW TV offers. More convenient maybe, but definitely not cheaper.

Will agree streaming quality isn't the best, luckily they also do boost offers around £1 for 3 months - still only takes it up to 1080p then TV upscaling does the rest. For the price it's adequate and the only place to get HBO content.

I think the regular price for Boost is £6 per month if not bought with an offer. That's for 1080p and to remove ads, which is a right cheek.

I just subscribed to now tv and immediately cancelled as i only want to watch something specific, i didn't get any decent offers when i cancelled. nothing like 1 or 2 quid a month etc. maybe you have to be a long term subscriber.

Yup, hence i'll only take NowTV when they offer boost as well as Entertainment at a significant discount, luckily, that's multiple times per year :)

I'm not a long term subscriber but I have dipped in and out for years, I used to just buy my codes from a guy on ebay but they won't allow that anymore. I've never paid their headline price.

The ebay seller does still email me every month or two with new discount codes across Now Tv / Apple / Paramount / Disney and a few others.

Yeh £6 is too much. Whenever i go to cancel though, they always offer it at £1 or £2 a month for 3 months (at least).

I regularly have NOW TV movies, entertainment and boost for around £5/£6 a month (total), which is pretty good i think. Often you only have to cancel, or dip out for a month or two before they give you a great offer again.

I haven't needed to use NowTV in 3 years but for me, it wasn't much cheaper.

For context, i used it for entertainment/movies/sport. I would often get deals on the entertainment and movies but sport was almost always full price. I can't remember the price but the Sky Sports month pass was like £35-40 and it was only in 720p unless you opted for the boost.

Now I pay £70 a month for all the sky channels (entertainment, movies, sports and multiroom) along with Netflix ultimate (£15 a month), Paramount+ (£7 a month) and discovery+ (£6) all included. Not only that, at least I know get sports in proper UHD with HDR and 60fps.

So with Sky my entire package is £70 but in reality works out to be (with man-math) £42 as I'm not having to pay for those subscriptions elsewhere. If I wanted to go the NowTV route today without deals Sports is £35, Cinema is £10 and Entertainment is £10, Netflix Ultimate another £15, Paramount+ another £7 and discovery for another £6 I'm up to £83.

I appreciate if you're only interested in the odd series or the odd movie that they put up on NowTV it's probably much better to go for the piece meal route NowTV offers and pick up/drop it when required but for me Sky is cheaper , better quality and more convenient. YMMV.

Until I went with (French) F1TV, I was paying for boosted NowTV Sports and it was only £26? No deals, straight up price. If that's the case, it's only £4 more... and that's with no deals/ You also get the choice, if you don't want just one of the services, it's less. Again, throw a deal in now and then and it's a lot cheaper.

It's £35 a month with a free trial of boost for 7 days right now.

As I said. For some people NowTV is a great deal and it was helpful to have whilst I was unable to have proper Sky installed. If you want to hunt around for deals or do the cancellation dance, no doubt it's cheaper.

I just want to be able to watch TV when I chose and in good quality without having to worry about getting the best deal as I have a pretty sweet deal already. Like if you only want to watch F1, then SkySports is a terrible deal (still should be FTA but that's a different argument) but for me it has F1, boxing, NBA, NFL, I can watch The Masters and I have access to Eurosport. It's worth it to me.

Then when I account for all the other bits thrown in, I'm happy with what I pay/get. If I wanted Like-for-Like year round, NowTV is not cheaper without risking having no access for a month whilst I wait for them to send out new offers.

Edit: I am a streaming services dream though. Have most of them. (Netflix, AppleTV, Disney+, Prime but cancelled DAZN last year)

And they still force you to watch a 30 sec trailer before every show with Boost, have to keep stopping and starting again to skip it. I remember Amazon tried that a while back but thankfully now have a skip button.

The quality of Now TV even with boost is still pretty bad though, certainly not worth £6 a month.

There's no way the price increases will ever be undone. All companies seem to be at it ATM, shame my pay isn't going up with inflation.
Of course they won't be undone, that would require a period of negative inflation which would be dire! What we will see is a slow down in inflation and hopefully a period of time for wages to catchup a little.

Yup, it's bonkers. That's why I'm really happy with my Sky Deal.

If you don't mind gaps in your content then waiting for deals is the obvious choice but if you know you're going to use something year round then you can get a better deal with contract vs PAYG.

Though if you don't care about sport then there's not much point to having a Sky contract.
