Netflix is now in the UK

Forgive my ignorance, but due to my location I only get a 3-4Mbps download speed. It's fine for high quality iplayer etc, but does netflix allow you to pause and pre load videos, or does it reduce the quality to compensate for slower connections?

It's a dealbreaker for me so any insight would be great. Thanks

Seems to do it on the website version. Not sure about the console apps though.

I absolutely love it tbh. Atm I use it on my apple tv 2 as well as my iPad and it's flawless on those devices, especially the interface. I am on 30mb cable (virgin) and so far the picture quality has been superb for HD films. To answer Bennie-Mac's question, you can pause vids and skip ahead easily enough.

All I need to do now is cancel LoveFilm for this, and upon phoning them last night it seems it'll be easier said than done. They're reluctant sods aren't they?

im on a 2-3 meg line (max dl 352k) depending if its windy, sunny or a large birds sat on the phone line.

signed up to the free month trail on the ps3 and i can get high sd/medium hd picture quality. my only gripe is how the sound is slightly out of sync.

if you have a ps3 bennie try it and if you dont like it cancel before the end of your month so you dont have to pay.

Yes, with the 360 though you need to pay for a gold sub as with most content. PS3 is pretty much out of the box and no extra cost.

However, I personally feel the 360 app is ever so slightly slicker, but not much in it.

Cool thanks. Although i hear the newer WDTV Live Streaming player has a Netflix client built in now and that's only 80 quid. If i like Netflix i might just ditch my current WDTV Live and get the new one!

They are indeed reluctant, I just kept saying nope not interested have no time for it & yet they persisted to offer me more deals. Two weeks later got a phone call offering me more deals & then today got post from them giving me 2 months for price of one. I like this netflix though it is pretty cool :)

Just gone on to Netflix and I was using the American version but now it seems to have switched me back to the English one, is anyone else having this problem at the moment?

TalkTalk broadband here, and mine's back to UK as well. Feels so empty compared to the US selection! Gone from like 12 pages of horror films to 2...

Reckon I'll cancel it then.

EDIT: Wife saw me posting thing and also stropped "Make sure you also say there's no Firefly and I'm not happy!"

No Firefly, no Parks and Recreations, no Lost, no insert whatever you might be watching now or in the future, etc.

Very gutted and I doubt I'll be subscribing to the service with the current catalogue.

It's wierd... I just found Firefly on the site and streamed it (UK). Will check it on the Xbox later.

I got my wife/father-in-law a netflix subscription (streaming only) whilst I was in the US, and too be honest, apart from maybe the TV series it has... I really don't think it's worth it. Netflix apparently has a lot of DVD titles, but the streaming leaves something to be desired with the titles they stock :-(

EDIT: Mr Krugga: It isn't Netflix that won't stream it. It's the film companies that don't want them to do it.

Its a shame they don't charge more.
I would pay handsomely for a service that come out a week or two after tv and has 80% of program's and films.

I'm in the US and you're talking out of your rear :p They have TONS of stuff streaming, and although they may not have the latest stuff straight away (although they sometimes randomly do...), it's still a massive amount of content for the price. The quality is also excellent and the service reliable, although I suppose that depends on your ISP. I really couldn't be happier with it. I don't even have cable/satellite anymore - just Netflix and the handful of regular over-the-air stations.
