Neverwinter Nights 2 Official Thread

going to order more when stock comes in, anyone know anywhere to get it for £20 -£25 with stock in now?

I left the updater for a while and it seems to have updated :)

It's not too bad a game I guess :) think I started with a rubbish class tho (warlock).
I might have to use the free 7day d+d online pass I got with it. Not sure how big the d+d client is to download tho.

Tried it for on my 5200fx for a laugh, it's a like a slide show at the lowest resolution and settings lol. Has a nice intro movie though and that figurine looks great :D Just need to bide my time now.

Has anyone started a Ranger and got a pet? How do you control it? Sometimes it just stands there and does nothing, other times it runs off attacking everything in sight :o Its strong though! (And the choice of a Badger as a pet made me :D - I went with the bear)

Go into the options and turn the context menu time down (to make it easier to use!).

Then, when you have your animal companion out you click its portrait, then right click the portrait, you should be able to command it from there along with un-summon etc.

Also, if you right click anywhere on the screen (well anywhere on the game area) you will see a command called "Broadcast Command", that will allow you to tell all of the party members to do a certain thing. For instance, a handy one if you are a rogue is to tell everyone not to move so you can stealth about etc.

Same spec computer mate, let me know how it goes.

Runs fine at 1280x1024, mainly medium settings, though the graphics aren't in the same league as Oblivion or Gothic 3.

I'm playing as your standard fighter/tank so far and it seems pretty easy. Staying on the good side, so might dabble with a paladin later on.

I have been reading up on this game and I have found out that Anti Aliasing doesnt work with this game. is that true? How can you leave out such an important feature?

So far, working fine after a few tweaks at 1280x1024 on my Opty 170, X1900XT, 1Gb Ram. Only tested these settings out in the first room and the first couple of fights with the dwarfs. I had no problems patching. Running Catalyst 6.10 and made sure I installed the latest dual core fix from AMD first.

Turned off point shadows and water reflection and dropped shadows to medium, but everything else is pretty much maxed including anisotropic filtering, soft shadows, water refraction and bloom enabled. It runs 60Hz indoors and hasn't dropped below 30Hz outdoors - even when displaying a lot of the fighting. Frame rate was down to 15-20Hz outside with absolutely everything maxed and the fight going on.

It was in the previews, but disabled for some reason in the final release. A Dev on the NWN2 forums has said that it'll be enabled in the next patch.

It's true I'm afraid - they're trying to get it into the next patch. It really is a mess. One of the devs posted on the official board (in response to people getting poor performance on good systems) and recommended they turn off shadows and play at 800x600 res. For a game that looks out-dated in the first place.....that's just shocking.

Let's hope they spent all that time working on the gameplay instead...

Many bugs atm yea, and annoying camera, BUT my performance is quite decent.
I noticed that if I have a web page running in the background (i.e: these forums while playing), my frame rate drops to bugger-all, and as soon as I "windows key out" and close the page, the game runs smoothly again.

Is anyone else having crazy performance trouble with this game?

PC:
P-M 2Ghz @ 2.3Ghz
2GB RAM
X800XT AGP

Laptop:
Core Duo 1.66Ghz
1GB RAM
Mobility X1600

On my PC it runs like a dog at minimum detail, its as if it was rendering the game 10 times over However, on my laptop its silky smooth at medium-high detail. There's got to be something wrong there, surely?

Edit: Found the problem - it was xfire. Don't run xfire at the same time as NWN2 (even though its part of the installer :p). Graphics are still very poor given the performance imo.

XFire has sorted my problem too, now running everything at max. It does handle graphics badly though.

Edit: But now I feel lonely. :D

I am playing this on a Pentium M 1.8, 1 GB RAM and a GF 6800 Go 256 MbRam and it plays like a dog at 1024 x 680 (or something). All details are on minimum. I think the graphics are ok but the game runs soooo bad.

1280x1024, mid shadows, water effects off, max everything else, runs too choppy, 15-20 FPS :(

playable at 1024x768, 30fps average

Enjoying the game though, need to tweak, want 1280x1024 playable.

Moon Elf Druid :D

I'm not having any performance problems with mine, running on a P4 3.4GHz and an X800Pro (XTPE BIOS flashed).
Running smooth at 1280x960 with most settings mid-ish, shadows on low.

Anyone playing as a Ranger with Archery? Its terrible for damage :( Even with 20 Dex, 17 Str I do very little damage with my Long Bow +1....then I switched to my backup weapon (some Astral Blade, a +1 Long Sword) and I'm doing pretty much double the damage

I've got specialisation feats in Long Bow, and nothing in Long Sword! Just wondered if anyone else was having the same issues?

The best way to get damage in nwn1 was Arcane archer for enhance arrow, or buy a Composite Bow with Mighty on it which allows your STR mod to add to damage, it doesn't usually.
I'm not sure how it works in nwn2.
