Done! it's installing now. I really appreciate your help
If I don't have the lan cable plugged, it will install all the drivers anyway, right?
I mean the newest ones that can install windows, not the dell bloatware.
It will install the drivers that were on the Windows iso at the time of creation.
Once you have installed and logged into your account just run Windows Update and it will install all the drivers for you. Then just install the Realtek drivers and the latest Nvidia drivers and that's it job done...
Just got a £799.99 settlement for my old laptop - this one looks the best thing I can buy in that price bracket.
Just before I order - is the SSHD any good or is it worth grabbing an m.2 drive to stick the OS on?
Hi all, great thread ,I have been following closely and the excellent info on here helped me to make the decision to buy this laptop. It arrived yesterday, but unfortunately my initial feeling of excitement was quickly tempered by the very audible noise while tapping, even lightly, the touchpad. It is quite hard to accurately describe but it sounds like it is loose, rattling, almost amplified in an acoustic guitar sort of way.It sounds really cheap and just plain wrong, not something you could live with.I will obviously have to return the machine, but just wondered if any of you have similar problem or have maybe found ,or know of a fix.Thanks.
Well I've just been told that it'd take 2 weeks to ship - the 2-4 days advertised on their website is the date from when they arrive in the UK but they ship from China so it takes around 10 days to get here. Not particularly impressed at that!
Grab a 120GB Samsung 850 Evo Sata M.2 drive for your O/S it's considerably quicker. The SSHD is fine as a storage/Games drive.
I've just done that, thanks
Dell Outlet refurb (1080p, 8gb model) with Student discount and an 850 from OCUK. Total a shade under £620 - very happy with that!
